Happy Halloween!!!

Okay, I'm a little late, but it is technically Halooween for another 30 mins. I had a faboo day with [livejournal.com profile] taylorea & [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean. We planned on scrapbooking all day, but didn't really get anything accomplished. But, I did wear my cape and witch hat to the scrapbooking store, which was fun. We watched part of my Bill Hicks DVD (which I LOVE), Profile of a Serial Killer (YUMMMM, nekkey Hugh Jackman), Van Helsing (MORE Hughie!), Dracula, Frankenstein and The Wolfman. We also played 90's Trivial Pursuit, which was quite fun.

I spent a good part of yesterday at the Mall of America with [livejournal.com profile] duckduck. I got socks that say "I <3 Nerds." They rock. I also spent most of Sat night at my parent's house, doing laundry. Yes, I lead the glamorous life.

Does anyone else feel that if they've already made up their mind about who they're voiting for, they should get an exemption from seeing or hearing any more political ads??? I'm so sick of all the ads, and all the blantant lies being spewed on some of them. I can't wait until Tuesday is finally over. I'm sure I'll be glued to the TV all night. I have a bad feeling. The stupidity of most of America can never be underestimated.

Lee, this will probably only interest you, but everyone else is welcome to read along. GO get this Magazine Special Issue by Memory Makers, called Scrapbooker's Survival Guide. It's faboo! It's got tips and techniques for like every single scrapping thing there is. And since it's a mag, it's only $8, rather than those expensive books. I was paging through it for a long time, just thinking of all the possibilities.

Also, this came out today. Boy From Oz karaoke! *dies* I MUST have!!
leighblack: (In person)
Seriously, fuck work. I'm totally fed up right now. Listen, I do NOT sit here twiddling my thumbs waiting for you to email me with something to do. I have plenty of things to get done! I cannot just drop everything because you think you're more important than everyone else. I've actually had people email me today, then run over to my desk before I've even had time to read it, to ask if I've gotten the email & if it's done. WTF?? On a good note though, my boss' boss, who is very nice, emailed me to say thank you for something I completed for him last week and apologized that it took him so long to say it. *preens*

So, how about a recap of my weekend to take up the rest of my day? )
leighblack: (Roger times two)
Shaun of the Dead was fabulous! Zombies are damn funny!! Go see it. No, really.

I'm sitting here trying to get some inspiration for a scrapbook page. I'm contributing a page that some fans are going to give to Jeremy Kushnier (my newest obsession), but I have no idea what to say on it. *sigh* I've crossed over to a scary scrapbooking place, by the way. I don't even want to think about how much I've spent in the last couple weeks. Today I bought a whole tool kit so I can now affix eyelets and snaps to my pages. Don't worry, you don't want to know.

I actually watched like half of the Vikings game today. I don't know how that happened. I hate football.

I should probably stop stalling and get back to work.

This has definitely been a week of major mood swings. It started out great on Sunday, hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] taylorea watching movies & scrapbooking. I had high hopes for Monday, as it was getting closer to my trip to Chicago on Wed. Just when we started to finalize some plans, it all exploded.

Three strange days )

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I haven't updated my journal in a week. You can kiss my ass. I just haven't had anything going on to write about. I spent most of last weekend chilling out on my couch watching movies and scrapbooking with Jess. Not very exciting. We did go to dinner at my parent's house Sunday night, which was chaotic as usual. My grandma was there and she was talking to herself for most of the night. She also decided to say grace before dinner and broke out into some big "Praise the Lord" routine, complete with clapping and singing. I sincerely hope that this is not my future. Seeing my mom with Jess just furthered my belief that my mom has no interest in anything in my life. She kept asking Jess all about her scrapbook and what's going in it. Jess asked her if she'd seen my book yet, and my mom was just like "Yeah, it's weird, whatever."

Speaking of scrapbooking, it's done. Yes, my scrapbook is done, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly being able to find the photos from our mechanical bull riding adventure. Okay, there's a couple pages that I might want to embellish a little bit yet, but it's done. I feel so satisfied. [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and I found a really cool scrapbooking store on Wed night, and I saw all kinds of things that I could have added to my book. Including the coolest little drum set! But I'll just have to collect those things for the 2004 Concerts book. Right now, I'm gathering photos for my upcoming Dishy Guy scrapbook by going through all of my old magazines. Which is good, because I'm throwing out boxes and boxes of magazines. Yay!

Going through the magazines is kind of tough. I've just got hundreds and hundreds of wrestling magazines, and it's shocking how many of the people in the 'zines are dead now. These mags are only 2-5 years old and I can't even count how many people have passed on. It's a hard business.

That brings us to today. It's the anniversary of The Station night club fire. I don't really want to talk about it. I think enough people are doing that. I can just so clearly remember sitting at my desk last year and shaking uncontrollably for most of the morning. That could have been any of us in any of those shitty clubs that we all go to. I think it really affected me more than the fall of the World Trade Center towers did.

Well, that was a depressing journal entry, wasn't it? Maybe now you don't want me to update after all. At least there are things to look forward to. We're going snow tubing on Sunday! Yay!! The object is to be bruised and wet by the end of the afternoon, and I'm sure that will be accomplished. Last time we went tubing, I got some. But I don't think that'll happen this time. Have a good weekend, everyone!

I don't have much time, as usual. Sorry I've been kind of distant lately. Things are busy and free time is scarce. This weekend's activities did not include anything earth-shatteringly exciting. I spent most of Saturday working on my apartment. I put away or got rid of the entire mountain of clothing on my floor. I alphabetized the bookcase, cleaned off the dresser, picked stuff off of the floor, put away boxes of video tapes and hung things on the wall. Yes, I got my Van Helsing banner! It's so freaking HUGE!!

Who I sleep under every night )

I also managed to fit the Once Upon a Time in Mexico poster in there too, so I guess I have a movie theme going. Once I get frames, I think I'm going to add Bad Santa and Jay & Silent Bob.

I also hung up posters in the living room (Van Helsing, Rent, Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs), cleaned off the floor and the sofa, cleaned up the kitchen, finished making my calendar and watched about five episodes of Homicide. I didn't get a whole lot of my book group book read, but I have all week yet for that.

Sunday is scrapbooking day, of course. Jessica was supposed to join us, but never made it. Bren & I lounged around for a while, but eventually got the bug and really got some pages done. We ran out to the craft store for a while, because I needed green letters for the Peppermint Creeps pages and birthday stickers. This led to more paper buying. I think I have enough paper for a whole other album now. In fact, I added up the pages that I have left for 2003 and my scrapbook is nearly complete. I only have a couple more weeks worth of work to do. Since I haven't gone anywhere yet this year, I'm thinking of a couple ideas of things to work on in the meantime. We also watched a Australian Hugh Jackman movie called Paperback Hero about a druck driver who writes a romance novel. Yeah, the movie was bad, but worth watching once. Hugh...still dreamy even though he has knobby knees.

I talked to my brother this morning. He made it back home from Egypt okay, with only a minor injury to his finger. He caught it in a door on the train or something. I told him that I wanted to hear his stories in person, so we're going to hang out on Wed night. I told him that for his birthday present, I'd take all his photos, organize them and put them into a nice album for him. (And yes Julee, that involves little labels on the backs of the photos.) DJ seemed to like the idea since he'd never do that himself and his photos would get all gooky otherwise. It'll be good to see him before he goes back to school next weekend.

Another boring update on my life… )

ahoy, ahoy

I just thought I'd check in for a little bit, since I haven't really written in my journal in a few days.

Wednesday night I spent the night bonding with my mother. We made cookies and I typed up their Christmas letter for her. The section she wrote up about me was only a few sentences long and it was all about work. Huh? I asked her if that's all she thought about me, my work, and she said I was boring. Me?!? Gee, thanks mom. Needless to say, I rewrote my section in the letter. ;)

I was supposed to see Blackstone Cherri do one of their last gigs on Saturday night, but I really couldn't afford the trip up north. Instead, I ended up dog sitting while my parent's spent the weekend in Chicago. I spent a lot of Saturday at home, packing some books and taking down my Faster Pussycat wall. My apartment looks so bare without that stuff! My dogs were very happy that I was there with them and pretty much hung around me all weekend. Including sleeping on top of my feet. And boy, is that comfy.

I talked to Ann for a while last night. We decided that we're not going to Vegas for New Year's. Since I'm moving that weekend, it's probably good not to go. I'm okay with it, and I might get to see her on NYE anyways. I'll probably take the time off from work anyways so I'll have time to pack and clean. This does mean that I am 100% for sure going to Chicago for Adler's Appetite next weekend. And I get to see all my girls!

While I was at my parent's house, I did six loads of laundry. Now all of my towels, dish rags, sheets, and clothes are clean. Yay! I also spent time working on my scrapbook. I almost have all of the Faster pages done! But my dogs didn't like it when I was working on the scrapbook because they couldn't curl up with me. So I spent the afternoon reading in a comfy chair with Earl next to me and Riley sitting on my feet.

Now I'm home and have an exciting night ahead of me. I have to wrap my secret santa gifts and I want to finish a couple scrapbook pages. And I think that's about it.
leighblack: (Sparrow)
I left work early last night and ended up watching Pirates of the Caribbean all the way through. Oh, Johnny...

I have found that the bad part about having my dining room table cleaned off is that I sit there and scrapbook now. This is bad. It's taken over my whole life!! But I do have to say that my Sudsy Malone's page (that's the laundromat that Faster played at this summer) turned out really cute!
leighblack: (ChadFinger)
Do you ever get so damn tired that you are just hyper-awake, with no hope of getting sleep anytime soon? That's how I've been all day. I'm SO tired. Yet sitting up and fucking 'round on the puter. sigh...

Even though I was all ready to stay home this weekend and save some money, I have changed my mind (with the help of some bribery from [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux) and am gearing up for another road trip. We're apparently going to the middle of nowhere to see Killingbird in Wisconsin this weekend. I'm excited about it! They rock live!!

I had a very boring, normal weekend last weekend. I worked on Sat morning, helped my aunt with some computer stuff and then took [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and Mandrew out for dinner with the gift card I won in the costume contest. Damn it was good!! I wish we could actually afford to eat there. Sun morning was the second meeting of our It's a Really Good Book group. I thought it went pretty well, even though I didn't like our book. We're reading The Eyre Affair next, which sounds like it's kind of twisted. Then [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and I spent the rest of the day scrapbooking. We did it for hours! We went through five movies!! How sad is that?? But my album is looking pretty good and I've got quite a bit done.

I feel like I'm in a very strange place right now. I have nothing to complain about (except being broke all the time, which is my own fault), I'm enjoying life and even looking forward to winter. But so many of my friends are having some real problems in their lives. I can't really comiserate with them, all I can do is be there.
leighblack: (MetalHorns)
I am going to be very good and post a whole entry tonight. It's been a while since I've really posted anything. And yes, I still have not told the tale of my trip to California. I still don't really feel like it. Maybe later this week.

Oh, and I know she won't read this, but I am so happy for Ann. They caught the guy last night! She was so excited that she called to tell me about it twice. If you don't understand, then move along. Nothing to see here.

So, my weekend started with me being "motivation girl." I got up early and finally mailed out my package for the gift exchange on the LAG board. I did some shopping and then made my way back home. I decided to do some excavation work on my apartment (otherwise known as cleaning) and I picked up every single piece of clothing that I own. I washed almost all of it and then actually hung it in my closets or put it in my dresser. Much better than the usual pile on the floor. I also made a big pile of stuff to get rid of. I just have so much stuff that I never wear. It's not worth keeping it around. This took most of the day yesterday, as I have a lot of fucking clothes.

As the last load was washing, I started going through all of my photos from the Obsessive Girls Tour. I needed to gather some of them together for reasons I'll disclose later. I get so melancholy when I look through them. Not just cause there's so many of that Muscat fucker. But because I had so much damn fun! I hope they tour next summer, but I just don't think it'll be the same.

I finally peeled myself out of the chair and got ready to go out. I met my new friend Susie (tootser) for dinner at Denny's. She's so much fun! I'm glad she spoke up on the Faster board one day that she was looking for people in the Twin Cities. We talked a lot about my adventures from this summer. She wanted to know if I knew what had happened to the Faster board since it now seems like it's filled with 5-year-olds. I told her a little bit about what happened and how she can find the regulars in other places.

We then wandered down the block to The Rock to settle in for Skid Row. Even though the doors had only been open for about an hour, there were a lot of people in there. There were quite a few people jammed up by the front of the stage already, so we made our way over to the Rachel & Scotti side so we could get a place up front. We were surrounded by an army of little Vietnamese men who were very pushy. There were also a couple of very drunk chicks on our other side, one of whom was wearing the same shirt I was. Oh, the horror!! (Although, as Susie said, I looked much better in it) A very tall beautiful woman managed to sneak through the tall men and stand on my left. We talked a little bit and I just kept thinking that she looked really familiar. When I got home, I figured out that it was Cherie from the LAG board! I wish I would have figured it out at the show. I think the strange guy that had been wearing the Tuff shirt at the Elgin Sludge show was there too. I talked to him at the Sudsy's show in Cincinnati and I think that where he actually lives. So, people from other states are beginning to look familiar. Perhaps a sign that I road trip too much??

Anyhow, we waited through a couple mediocre opening bands. Susie's friend Sara showed up, but she wasn't really into the whole "rock" thing. Finally, the Skids got on stage. This was the last night of their mini-tour and they were ready for a good time! Rachel is HOT. Just fucking HOT!! I wanted to lick him all over. Scotti is so much damn fun to watch. He jumps, kicks, sits and is generally a huge bundle of energy. He was staring at all kinds of people in the audience until they'd react to him and then he'd just laugh at them. Johnny sounded great & had a great rapport with the audience. He really looked happy to be there. I had a hard time seeing Snake & Phil from where I was. The crowd was SO into the show. Jumping up and down, fist pumping, singing along and head banging galore! It was so much fun!! Except for the little men who kept pushing against Cherie & I. Space people, space. And again, I'd like to mention the Rachel Bolan is HOT!! I'll have the photos to prove it soon. They were having such a good time & goofing off that he was laughing and smiling a lot, and I know I got some good photos.

After the show, we decided to hang out since they usually come out in the crowd. I had seen a guy wearing a Sludge jersey, so I went up to him and asked him who he was. Turns out that he was greengoblinrulz, otherwise known as Brian. We ended up standing around and talking to him & his friend for almost an hour. They were pretty cool! They were going to make sure that we got on the bus to party, but the guys were nowhere to be found. Turns out that they went back to the hotel to shower and were going to come back. It was getting late, so we decided to take off instead.

I got home and fucked around on the computer for a while before going to bed. I hate when I'm wired like that when I know I need to get some sleep.

I got up this morning when Bren ([livejournal.com profile] taylorea) called me. I had a KILLER headache even though I'd only had one drink at the show. My back & neck were in bad shape. They'd been bothering me all week and a night of headbanging didn't help much. Still, I dragged myself out of bed and drove over to Bren's. When I was there the other night, she had somehow talked me into joining her at a Creative Memories scrapbooking class. Yeah, that screams me. *join me on the sarcasm slide* We walked into the banquet room not really knowing what to expect. It was like we had entered another dimension. All of these soccer moms and old ladies had all of their scrapbooking supplies laid out everywhere. People had suitcases full of this shit!! It was absolutely amazing.

Bren had a $100 gift certificate from her wedding so we pretty much spent our time there picking out supplies for her. My mom has done some scrapbooking stuff, so I knew what to look for. The consultant chick was totally trying to push her into buying everything they had, but I wouldn't let them do that to her. Instead we picked out some essentials and a bunch of stickers and decided to see if my mom would let us borrow her stuff. She was on her way back from Chicago, so we called her and she was happy to let us borrow it if we could find it in the house.

We pigged out on the turkey dinner that was provided and then decided to leave. It was too hard to concentrate around all those people! While we were totalling up our supplies so we could get out, Ann called me. She just sounded so much better! I'm so glad for her and can't wait to see her on Halloween! She asked what I was doing and was quite speechless when I told her. I don't think she ever expected that answer! Bren & I went to my apartment to pick up a couple things and then went over to my parent's house. My dogs were so happy to see me! I haven't seen them in a couple weeks so I had to give them lots of love. Bren looked through the books my mom made for my brother while I searched for the scrapbooking supplies. I finally located them in my brother's closet (along with a huge bottle of rum) and we went back to Bren's.

We then spent the next six hours watching Disney movies and working on scrapbook pages. Since Bren had brought it up, I had warmed up to the idea and decided to make a book detailing my psychotic rock star stalking adventures. I worked on a few pages from the Sludge tour while Bren worked on pages for her honeymoon. Her husband, Andy, couldn't handle it and had to join in. He's one crafty bitch! :) lol So there we were, singing along to "Hakuna Matada" and cutting up photos. Just a little different from the night before! Ann called again to tell me her news, and I was like "uh, you already told me." She was just so happy to tell people that she forgot she'd already called me! She was a little shocked that I was still scrapbooking. But it was fun to hang with Bren all day. We decided to do it all again next Sunday. (Well, except for the roomful of psycho cropper women) By then, we'll have a better idea of what we want to do and what supplies we need.

I finally got home and flipped on the 'puter. Only to learn that my cutie Trent has left Blackstone Cherri. *sob* Say it ain't so!! It's so tragic and sounds like it's all over some chicks or something. Ridiculous! I really hope that he'll change his mind!!

Anyhow, that's my weekend in a nutshell. It's an exciting life, ain't it?
