such a beautiful lie to believe in )

I had a fantastic time creating this mix! It's quite a deviation from the singer-songwritery type stuff than I usually put on my fanmixes. I think it matches the story pretty well. =)

YOU GUYS! I MET ANTON YELCHIN TODAY! What's that? Pics or it didn't happen, you say?

Share photos on twitter with Twitpic

Hee hee! He was here for the showing of Like Crazy at the Twin Cities Film Fest. [livejournal.com profile] duckduck and j took me out to it for my birthday present. The movie was fantastic. And had surprise Alex Kingston! They did a Q&A after the movie and then mingled up in the bar afterwards. And we got free drinks. We had to do some leg work to get close to Anton, but we did and he was very gracious. And I might have babbled about Fright Night. But he was sweet and took photos with us despite my being all fangirly. So success all around! :D

LOOK AT THAT!!! Isn't it the most adorable thing ever?? It's today's shirt on Ript Apparel and it's pretty much like it was made just for me! IT'S A SCOTTIE DOG!!! *giggles*

Anywho. Yes, I bought it. I hope it gets here before our birthday party.

Remember when I said at a dinner last night that there would soon be a Chris Pine/John Cho fic stemming from the fact that the Choverlord seems to have stolen Capt Fine's hat in this photo? Yeah: I Summon You

holy carp, there was a lot of fic posted last night. I don't know how I'm gonna get through it all today. but I'm determined to try!
leighblack: (Trek - Kirk Loves Bones)
You may remember when I made this slighty naughty Kirk/McCoy cross-stitch that I was planning on using it on a tote bag that I was making. And I finally have it finished!

clicky for pix )

And that's all I got. I would tell you about how fantastically awesome and fun the Green River Ordinance show was on Thursday, but I'm not sure I have words to describe it anyways. I ♥ those boys! And apparently they ♥ me too. Jamey even wrote it on my CD. ;)

I giggled

After about six months of work, I finally have my Karl Urban and Chris Pine pillows done!!

Aren't they preeeeety? ;)

I think I will reward myself by reading fanfic for the rest of the night.
leighblack: (Trek - Bones/Kirk Ship)
my latest cross-stitch project )
Not safe for work if you work anywhere uptight. Otherwise it's fine.

I totally love this! It's my first time stitching onto regular fabric using waste canvas and I think it turned out pretty well. It's going to go on the inside pocket of a tote bag. That I still need to make. And will have Kirk & McCoy chibis stitched on the outside. In a less compromising position.

And now I need a little break from stitching onto regular fabric (it's hard on my poor fingers!) so I'm back to working on my Chris Pine pillow. ;)
leighblack: (Trek - Spock Has HAD IT With These MF Ki)
I have spent pretty much my entire day reading fic and watching videos of a...questionable nature. Merry Christmas to me, indeed. Except for the part where my brain decided I needed to be up at 6am this morning, no matter how many times I told it to go back to bed. Which is why I was at the grocery store at 8am, storing up for the upcoming Snowpocalypse so I don't have to kill & eat my neighbors. Also, it's very strange when the local media uses the word Snowpocalypse as though it's legitimate. Oh, twitter. You really are everywhere. ANYWAYS...

Day 23 → A YouTube video

I actually have two videos to share! (okay, technically the first one is a vimeo video, since YouTube claimed copyright infringement) And yes, they're both Star Trek related. Yeah, I know. I'm obsessed. But these are both Kirk/Spock and you all know that I am so NOT a Kirk/Spock girl. These vids just make me laugh and laugh and they need to be shared.

First! These two crazy girls on [livejournal.com profile] ontd_startrek spent two months editing pieces of the ST audiobook to create a vid that make it looks like Zachary Quinto is narrating a story about Kirk & Spock gettin' it on while on the bridge of the Enterprise. it's freaking brilliant! )

And the second video is a re-imagining of what Kirk really saw when Spock Prime performed the mind meld with him on Delta Vega. This is especially hilarious to me now that I've been watching TOS. A warning! The fucking song playing the video will probably get stuck in your head for days. But it's worth it! it's all coming back to me... )

So there you go! And now off to my last Hallmark shift until next Monday! *swoon*

Day 12 → Whatever tickles your fancy

Klingon Language Institute - The fastest growing language in the galaxy!

Because they mentioned it at A Klingon Christmas Carol tonight (which was AWESOMELY FABULOUS,btw!) and I want to make sure I remember it.

Happy Star Trek on DVD day guys!! =) I'm planning to head out to get my copy on my lunch break. And then my Blu-Ray set from Best Buy tonight.

There was a DVD release party filled with GQMF last night. You can find photos here and here. But I need to point something out. behind the cut )

Also, Karl cut his hair. :sad face:

So, who's in for Chris Pine's new movie Carriers on Friday night? It is apparently playing in theaters besides the one in Lakeville. Yay! Here's our choices:

Showplace in Inver grove: 7:40 or 10:00
Regal in Eagan: 6:50 or 9:20
I'm thinking the 9:20 at Regal? Yes? No?

And then Star Trek is back on the IMAX this weekend! Only at the IMAX at the AMC Rosedale and only at 11:05pm. But I'm definitely in for going on Sat night. Anyone else?

ETA: Edited to unlock the post, in case anyone for ONTD_ST wants to join us!
leighblack: (Trek - Bones is Clearly Awesome)
Look at who was waiting for me when I got to my cube today!!

I was actually speechless for once. And then I totally busted out laughing. Good thing there's not many people here that time in the morning. =) Thank you again to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] wilowisp for my totally awesome gift!! ♥ (even if it is a little creepy to have him watching me working) You know I'm going to expect that fic now, right? ;)

Anyhow...hey, it's my birthday! My dad sent me a very concise email that said 'Happy birthday!' Cliffie, you crack me up sometimes. (and I suppose that's better than the year my parents forgot about my birthday) I'm going out to dinner with my friends tonight but the big celebration is on the 18th, of course. So it doesn't really feel like it's a big deal today.

Speaking of the big celebration, I almost have my uniform done! I just have to stitch the sides, put in the collar and hem the bottom. Once I have the sides stitched, I'm going to figure out whether or not I want to leave the zipper in. I think the material is stretchy enough that I may be able to get away with not having the zipper. I only basted it on so it should be easy to pull out. And my insignia patch should arrive on Friday! YAY!

And Star Trek is going to be back in the IMAX this weekend! Guess what we're doing on Saturday night?

leighblack: (Trek - On the Bridge With My Boyz)
pssssst...Star Trek at the Riverview Theater on Sunday at 4:40pm. Pass it along!

Will try to write about how very very awesome Fall Out Boy was tonight tomorrow.
leighblack: (Trek - Kirk Loves Bones)
[livejournal.com profile] genaschuyler asked for some Star Trek fic recs. I have tons of stories I've been meaning to rec and haven't gotten around to doing. You can find some previous recs here.

Pretty much all Kirk/McCoy. This pairing is completely eating my brain. Also, there's probably smut.

First, read ANYTHING [livejournal.com profile] inell is writing in Star Trek. It's all perfect and wonderful! Today's one shot story, Summer Storm, is super hot and sexy.

Sunshine & the sequel Moonlight by [livejournal.com profile] atomicskull
Jim Kirk, 21st century Iowan mechanic, gets switched with Jim Kirk, 23rd century starship captain. Bittersweet and lovely.

Sealed By a Fragile Touch by [livejournal.com profile] classics_geek
Oh gods. So angsty and wonderful! Bones gets left behind on a dead planet where time moves faster than normal.

The sequel: Fingerprints of Forgotten Memories by [livejournal.com profile] classics_geek
More angst. TRIGGERY WARNING. References to date rape. But seriously, this is gorgeous and broken and fantastic.

The sequel: Glass Right Down the Middle by [livejournal.com profile] classics_geek
Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] classics_geek went on vacation (how dare she!) so this currently only has the first part posted. Jim & Bones try to repair their relationship. And then all hell breaks loose.

The City!Series by [livejournal.com profile] atomicskull
Possibly the greatest AU ever written. Jim Kirk is the editor in chief of the fashion magazine, Enterprise. Leonard McCoy is his head photographer. Spock & Uhura are editors, Chekov & Sulu are models. Seriously, it's fantastic! And in progress, so be prepared for that.

In Our Bedroom After the War by [livejournal.com profile] incandescently
AU-ish. Jocelyn McCoy dies while Bones is still in the academy. He's suddenly put in charge of raising a baby. Jim is there to help.

The Sum of Us by [livejournal.com profile] the_dala
A series of stories about how five people discover one of the worst-kept secrets in Starfleet.

You're Gonna Make It After All by [livejournal.com profile] igrockspock
Not Kirk/McCoy! Gaila has a hard time adjusting to sexual customs here on Earth. Good thing her mentor, Spock, and her awesome roommate are willing to help her learn.

There will be more recs at some point.
leighblack: (Trek - Kirk is Lucky He's Pretty)
Whoops. I haven't updated in a while. Hi! I'm still alive. Just taking a few days off to get caught up on some stuff. It's awesome. My laundry pile thinks it's awesome too. As does my computer setup since I'm cleaning a bunch of stuff off it to free up some space.

I don't really have anything of any importance to say. So have a Star Trek macro? This totally made me LOL! Anarchy Day on [livejournal.com profile] ontd_startrek rocks my socks.

YOU ARE TRASHING MY SCENE makes me giggle every. time.

Also, this fandom!secret makes me want to weep for humanity:
spoilers for Torchwood: Children of Earth LIEK WHOA )
