One of the local radio morning shows was making fun of songs on each others iPods this morning. Out of the 13 songs they were ragging on, I have 11 of them in my iTunes and 7 of those actually on my iPod. I am so not cool.

But seriously, you can't make fun of Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)'! It's a great song! I still own an actual 45 of it!

In other news, the L&O: CI episode on Tuesday night was sort of built around a Great Big Sea Alan Doyle solo song. That's pretty awesome. I'm so excited about getting to see GBS for free for two nights in August!

I feel like I should probably write something about this weekend, huh? I have some actual work to do though so let's do this in some bullet points.

- [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and I had a little shindig on Sat night and it went very well, if I do say so myself. I think it was our best party ever! Lots of awesome people, good food, inappropriate conversation, a gigantic DDR setup and some conrhole. How could that go badly?? ;) We're already discussing our next party for sometime this summer.

- Gah. I totally forgot about Law & Order: CI again last night! Having it on Sunday night conflicts with my VH1 watching. I'll have to watch it tonight. Because I am super excited about Jeff Goldblum!

- Daisy of Love, eh? I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but I will indeed be watching. I can't look away!

- Seriously, WERE We the Kings always listed for our Warped Tour date?? I just feel like this is brand new news to me. That makes me very happy though! My ticket came last week too so I'm ready! Oh wait, it's still like 3 months away...

- It's very suddenly spring around here. The grass is green and the trees are budding. It couldn't get here soon enough!

- This week is super busy for me, as usual. I'm super excited to see Star Trek on Wednesday. And we'll be going out on Thursday for Dining Out for Life. And then there's Wolverine this weekend!

How's things going for you guys?
leighblack: (L&O - Buddy Cops)
Okay, [livejournal.com profile] wilowisp. I watched the first episode of Dollhouse finally. And...I'm not sure about it yet. I didn't hate it or anything, but I'm not sold on it yet either. I'll probably watch episode 2 once ER is over and maybe that will help.

The most important part is: HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT REED DIAMOND IS ON THIS SHOW?? Mikey! I haven't seen him in anything lately and I've missed him. When he came on screen, I might have given a little squeal. He must not be a permanent cast member though since he's listed in the 'guest starring' section of the credits.

I just went outside to see what it was like out there. It's a mess. There was a 10 inch snowdrift behind my car. I decided to see if I could move my car to a better spot so I wouldn't have any issues getting out in the morning, but all the other spots suck too. But I did manage to get out so I at least won't get stuck. And the good thing about the brutal wind is that it's blowing all of the snow off my car. I shouldn't have too much to clean off my car in the morning.

Yes, I think ahead like that. It's how my brain works.

The more I ponder Law & Order: UK, the more I think I may have a new OTP. ♥

My shoe dilemma has been solved! I stopped by Payless Shoes before work today and found exactly what I was looking for. I got a pair of black flat sandals that will look fantastic with my hawt formal dress and I'll also be able to wear them with plenty of other things I'm bringing. And I also got a cute pair of canvas slings that will be perfect for the beach and the Lido deck. The best part was that it was $30 for both pairs, so if they get ruined by the water or chlorine or whatever, no big deal.

I should probably start making an official packing list or something...

OH VH1. It's like you own my brain.

oh dear...

Ummmm....yeeeeeeah. This is kind of embarrassing to watch. The synchronized dancing is just TOO much. Although watching Jon get lost in the steps is kinda entertaining.

Plus, someone is flaaaaaaaat. Kinda painful to the ears.

sorry, Carly =/

ETA: OMG! No one told me Riki Rachtman is going to be part of Rock of Love: Charm School!!
leighblack: (Cobra - Gabe Loves NKOTB)
Oh dear. 8:40am is really much too early to flip on the TV and be greeted with ridiculous synchronized dancing.
leighblack: (L&O - Goren wants his library card back)
So...that teaser in the L&O:CI ads is Nicole Wallace, right? They wouldn't tease her and then not produce, would they? They couldn't be so mean!

Argh. Okay, I totally just spoiled myself for the episode on Wikipedia. But now I have my answer.

I've pretty much done nothing productive since I left work this afternoon. And I'm okay with that. This is my first day of nothingness in a long time.

I leave you with this, from last night's Twins game against the Angels:

leighblack: (L&O - Goren wants his library card back)
So. Are they going to destroy Mike Logan's character tonight (errr...again) like they do everyone who dares to leave Law & Order?

leighblack: (JB - nom nom nom)
oh dear lords...Oded Fehr is on Burn Notice RIGHT NOW!

leighblack: (DW - Ianto and Gwen on the Screen)
Since people seemed to enjoy the Torchwood macro I linked to the other day, I should also recommend this one! SPOILERS FOR THE FINAL DOCTOR WHO EPISODE. But if you watched that episode and, like myself, wondered WTF happened to Torchwood during the episode, you'll enjoy this one.

I don't even know how to explain this link properly. If you enjoy trashy VH1 reality shows and are enjoying the fine crack presented every Sunday night that's known as I Love Money, then you should read this blog. Because Heather, 12 Pack, The Entertainer and Toastee hosted a viewing party in NYC last night and it ended with The Entertainer sucking on Heather's toes on the sidewalk in Times Square. YES.

Also, Idolator has the list of songs that will be on Rock Band 2. I can sing a mean version of "You Oughta Know", that's all I'm sayin'. =)
leighblack: (L&O - Goren wants his library card back)
Suzie...aka Indira Varma...is on Law & Order: CI right now! Fandom crossovers FTW! I wish this was a Goren episode though. That would make it awesome!

I hope she doesn't get shot.

I predicted this shit ages ago!
The hard-partying gals of Rock of Love 1 and 2 are in major need of a manners lesson, and who better to tutor them in lady skills than Metal mama Sharon Osbourne? Vh1’s hit show is set to return this Fall with fourteen new pupils all vying to become the teacher’s pet. Osbourne will host and guide Bret’s ladies through their journey into the world of all things prim and proper. In the end, only one contestant will be left standing with $100,000 in her pocket. Saaphyri was last season’s most-improved - it’s anyone’s guess as to who will nab the prize this year, but we predict a lot of catfights along the way! Stay tuned to the VH1 Blog for the inside scoop about the newest season of Charm School!
This is going to be WAY better than that I Love Money show.

More TV news:
The MediaGuardian website has announced that Steven Moffat is to succeed Russell T Davies as the chief writer and executive producer of Doctor Who.

The article states that Moffat will replace Davies in 2009, taking over as "showrunner" for the fifth series in 2010. Moffat has been responsible for several episodes of the revived Doctor Who to date, including the BAFTA Award-winning "Blink" and the fortmcoming two-parter "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead".

Davies is quoted as saying: "It's been a delight and an honour working with Steven, and I can't wait to see where his extraordinary imagination takes the Doctor. Best of all, I get to be a viewer again, watching on a Saturday night!"

UPDATE: The BBC Press Office has now issued an official press release confirming the story. This includes a comment from Moffat himself:

"My entire career has been a Secret Plan to get this job. I applied before but I got knocked back 'cos the BBC wanted someone else. Also I was seven. Anyway, I'm glad the BBC has finally seen the light, and it's a huge honour to be following Russell into the best - and the toughest - job in television. I say toughest 'cos Russell's at my window right now, pointing and laughing."

I'm okay with this, indeed.

Did you also watch Torchwood episode 2x07 and determine that it made no sense? You're not the only one! Here is an awesomely entertaining pic-spam with comments! Spoilers, obvs.

Chris Chibnall is leaving Torchwood for Law & Order: London? That doesn't seem like a good idea. But what do I know? Dick Wolf has to have a gazillion dollars. Maybe he pays super well.

Dude, I'm already SO OVER having a constant cough. And it's only been three days. =(
leighblack: (TW - Ianto Considers Orgy)
Torchwood was good, yes? Also, it was Terminator 2, yes? *g* Still, Jack & Ianto make me giggle like a school girl. A porny school girl.

I'm not sure what's going on with Project Runway this season. I'm just not getting into anyone. No one is really awesome or anything. =/ Still, I watch.

Also, why is Nina Garcia's hair always messy? What kind of image is that projecting?

In other TV news, I am still sticking to my pledge to never watch Nip/Tuck again. I don't even miss it now.

Why yes, this IS called avoiding real life. Why do you ask?
leighblack: (Chuck - Herd Nerd Herd)
in which I danced with the Cobra )

I may have gotten fed up with my hair and chopped it off. Perhaps a little more than I meant to. But it was way too long and the ends were gross, so it definitely needed to be done.

This is like the third Monday I've completely forgotten to watch Chuck. Thank goodness for the internet pirates!

Dear WWE,

I forgive you! Sorry about all those bad things I said.

Love, me
leighblack: (ILNY2 - New York vs. Midget Mac)
Oh my gosh, you guys! I totally forgot to watch Desperate Housewives last night! =/ What kind of fan girl am I? Thank goodness for those ever-reliable internet tubes and their pirated TV shows.

How did this week get so damn busy?
Monday - going out with Big Daddy just canceled! boo - looks like I'll be working for a sick coworker
Tuesday - Hallmark joy
Wednesday - Josh Ritter show at the Cedar!
Thursday - I have a free evening!
Friday - 612 party
Saturday - 9 hour Hallmark shift
Sunday - 6 hour Hallmark shift

My whole "I'm going to read 2 books a week" plan has been severly derailed since I don't seem to have any free time anymore. When I am at home, I'm working on like ten things.

Also, my plan to see L.A. Guns in Fargo on Nov 3rd might have to be changed since that's the Ornament Open House. I'm not sure I'll be able to get time off. I suppose if I got an early shift on Sat, I could make it up there after that. I'll have to see what I can do.

Tonight, I'll be learning how to create torrents. I need to bump my OiNK ratio up and the easiest way to do it is to create & seed new torrents. It's a new adventure!

Note to self: write up the Orgy post!
leighblack: (TW - Gwen Said Tool)
How did I not notice this before? One of my YouTube videos is posted on The Fuchsia Band's MySpace. That's kind of cool. I like finding my stuff in random places.

I was hunting through the piles of clothing on my bedroom floor for a particular sweater this morning. All I could hear in my head was that damn "If you feel chilly, here take my sweater" song from the Old Navy commercial. And now it's been on repeat in my brain all day. DO NOT WANT.

Guys, I TURNED OFF the TV for a while last night. I also did the same on Monday night. I'm really trying to reach my goal of reading 75 books this year, and have realized that I'll need to read at least 2 books a week for the rest of the year to do it. This will not happen if I watch Law & Order all night every night. I'm doing okay so far. I finished two books I had been reading at the same time on Monday and I'm already halfway through another book. I can normally get 150-200 pages read while I'm at Hallmark, but I've been busy working on stuff lately. It's cutting into my reading time! Stupid work.

I've been to 22 concerts so far this year. Not too bad, I guess. I only went to 21 concerts total in '06. This is what my calendar looks like for the rest of the year, so far:
10/05/07 - Matt Nathanson, Cary Brothers & Kate Voegele at the Fine Line
10/06/07 - Shooter Jennings & Jason Brown in Clear Lake Iowa
10/11/07 - Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers & Tyrone Wells at the Varsity Lounge
10/17/07 - Josh Ritter & Eric Bachmann at The Cedar
10/26/07 - Shooter Jennings & Eddie Spaghetti at The Cabooze
11/03/07 - L.A. Guns in the middle of nowhere in western Minnesota
11/11/07 - Dropkick Murphys at Myth (I suppose we should organize some sort of ticket buying, huh?)
11/16/07 - Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, The Audition & Valencia at Northrop Auditorium (IF THE TICKETS EVAR GO ON SALE!)
11/27/21 - Fall Out Boy, Plain White T's, Gym Class Heroes & Cute is What We Aim For in Cedar Rapids Iowa
11/24/07 - Motion City Soundtrack, Mae, Anberlin & Metro Station at Myth

*sigh* TWO trips to Iowa. What's wrong with me?
leighblack: (Trek - WTF is this Shit?)
Using "We're Not Gonna Take It" as the jingle in a birth control commercial is 100% wrong.
leighblack: (Rock of Love - Rock Hands)

Bret Michaels is on Conan right now and it's the GREATEST THING EVAR. How did I not know about this ahead of time???
leighblack: (Drive - FOX leave NF alone!)
Yeeeeeeeeah. Reaper is definitely not going on the watch list. Chuck is for sure though. And Journeyman is a maybe. I'll give it another week.
