Monette and I have successfully made it to the Doubletree! Apparently there are people sitting around in the lobby, but we're chilling out in our room for a while. People are talking about class-action lawsuits and contacting the attorney general and all kinds of fun things. We're taking it in stride. We had an awesome time at the Field Museum and we're looking forward to the ruckus tonight at the cocktail hour. And then we're going to the tiki bar!

And apparently this convention is CURSED, because Tom Price was looking the wrong way when crossing the street and GOT HIT BY A CAR and broke his arm. =( =( He'll be here, but with a cast on. Hopefully not on his writing hand.

We're thinking of wrapping Gareth in bubble wrap. Not for any kinky purposes.

Also, we're thinking of getting some blank T-shirts and puffy paint to write "TorchSong May Be Hazardous to Your Health" on them to wear tomorrow.

I'm currently sitting in [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux's living room, here in Chicago. [livejournal.com profile] duckduck and I had a fabulous time at the Kasey Chambers show last night! I have all kinds of video that I might get around to posting sometime eventually. But our drive sucked and it actually took NINE hours to get here. It usually takes me six. =/

We're working on getting ourselves in a presentable fashion and then we're going to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] bibliogrrl for a while. And then it's Skid Row tonight!

Also, yaaaaaaarrrrr! =)
leighblack: (Wicked - Through and Through)
My boss is out today, so that makes it a fine time to write up my recap of my Wicked weekend. I would normally include photos, but I didn't take very many, so I haven't gotten my film developed. I can post them later, I suppose.

Every day more Wicked )

So, all in all, Wicked was fabulous and I really, really, really can't wait to see it again. And The Legend does a pretty good job of planning girl's weekends. =)

Next up, LA in two weeks! YAY!!! There will be much Jager to be had.

Hullo all!

Yes, I am finally home safe & sound from my girls' weekend in Chicago. And with plenty of time to settle in before CJ starts in an hour. =)

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!! I don't know just what I can say about Wicked. I just...yeaaaah...adored it. I was crying by the third song, visibly shaking with anticipation all during "Defying Gravity" and openly & uncontrollably weeping all during the last two songs. I really, really wish I was going to be able to see it in LA.

But I did hear that there is good news about my LA trip! *squee*

The downfall of my weekend is that I'm sick. Feverish, swollen glands, sore throat, probably not going into work tomorrow kind of sick. Blech. I really want to curl up into a ball right now.

I will, obviously, write more about my weekend later. I'm going to try to catch up on my f-list now. Ta-ta!
leighblack: (Wicked - Beautiful Wickedness)
I'm so very, very happy to be getting out of here for a couple days. This week has sucked.

Updated schedule for this weekend, more written out for my own benefit than anything else:
- Leave around 9am
- Pick [livejournal.com profile] cyberwuzzle up from O'Hare around 7pm
- Go to Hala Kahiki around 9pm

- Shedd Aquarium in the morning (or wandering around downtown, whatever we decide)
- Wicked at 2pm
- Dinner at La Cantina afterwards
- Evening activity?? We'll see how we feel. Maybe power lounging.

- Take [livejournal.com profile] cyberwuzzle to airport around 7:30
- Leave around 10am
- Take long way home so we can go to the Jelly Belly Factory and my favorite WI attraction, the Mars Cheese Castle
- Hopefully get home in time to see Crossing Jordan season finale

[livejournal.com profile] cyberwuzzle, I assume you'll be okay if we just wait for you at arrivals, rather than trying to find a place to park. We'll be in a dark gray Explorer. You can always call me when you get in so we can find each other.
leighblack: (Rent Movie - Causin a Commotion)
So, remember, almost two months ago when I took a road trip out to Detroit & Chicago? And promised that I'd post a big journal entry about it? And then never did? Yeaaaaaaah...Well, I wrote the whole entry a while ago. I was just lazy about scanning in the photos to go with it. And then I kinda forgot. But, *tah dah* today I have it for you! Of course, at this point, it's more like a trip down memory lane. =)

Remember when I went on a road trip and crunched my car? )
leighblack: (Wicked - Through and Through)
Thank goodness! And it's also payday, which is even more exciting.

I realized today that I haven't posted an actual real journal entry on what's going on in my life in a while. Truthfully, there's not much to tell. I haven't been going out much since I need to save money for my upcoming trips. So, instead my journal has been filled with exciting tales of screencapping and creating Mah Jongg games, which isn't all that different from what my life is actually like right now.

Oh, and on that note, I did post the caps from Revealed yesterday. Mmmmmmm...pretty...*pets* This one kills me every time.

Exactly seven days from this very moment, I'll be road tripping to Chicago with [livejournal.com profile] duckduck, [livejournal.com profile] auroram and [livejournal.com profile] taylorea. And in eight days and three hours we'll be sitting in the Ford Center happily watching Wicked, along with [livejournal.com profile] cyberwuzzle, [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux, [livejournal.com profile] littleweirdgirl and other people Julee is dragging along. I am WAY too excited about this! I've waited so long!! It makes me bouncy just thinking about it.

Out tentative trip plans, if you care )

Also, in four short weeks, I'll be in L.A. with [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly and [livejournal.com profile] missvn to see the Blackboard Jungle show. [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus, we need to figure out when you might be free so we can be sure to meet up while I'm there!

And that's about it. I'm sure there will be some more road tripping organized at a later date, but there's nothing wholly concrete right now. That FP/PBF/Creeps tour needs to get some dates posted!

I'l be dog sitting again for my parents this weekend. My mom is confused as to why I need to tape the first part of the Elvis miniseries at their house, but it's not my fault it's on the same time as CJ. And it's not like I'm missing Sunday's CJ episode!! In fact, I'm sure I'll be unable to look away from the TV even for a moment while it's on. Okay, maybe to rattle off some observations online. =) Since my sleep patterns are all out of whack right now, I'm thinking I can sleep most of the day Sunday, then stay up late (or all night) so I can get the episode capped right away. Because I'm a dork like that.

Okay, I am now very, very glad that I got our Wicked tickets during the presale. Tickets officially went on sale about 25 mins ago, so I thought I'd look to see if I could find better tickets, just out of curiosity. One of the shows I had been looking at is already sold out, and tickets for the other ones are already well into the balcony. That's cool though, because it means they'll get a great reception. I'm vaguely interested in getting tickets to the final performace for myself, but it's Memorial Day weekend and I'm sure I'll be basking on the beach in lovely Northern Minnesota.

I have no real news to report. Nothing much has been going on. I've gotten some Xmas cards from you all. Thanks! I love getting love in my mail box. Rikki babe, I need your address so I can send love back! ;) I also got a very nice card from my boss. It's nice to be appreciated for the work you do, you know? I'll be dog sitting for my parents once again this weekend, which means that I once again, won't get done the things I need to do on my computer. I'm tempted to pack it up and drag it over with me.

If anyone cares, Here's the track listing for the Covers CDs that I made ) Thanks for everyone's suggestions! I'm sure I'll ask for your opinions again soon, as I'm suddenly all about making my own CDs again. I was always one of those geeks that was big into making the perfect Mix Tape, so this is just an extension of that. Although, Chuck Klosterman has an interesting essay in Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs about how the Mix CD doesn't hold the same appeal of a Mix Tape. Good reading!
leighblack: (Wicked - Defying Gravity)
Okay, I'm weak. I just went ahead and bought Wicked tickets, since the good seats for the Saturday shows were getting snapped up. I got 12 tickets for the 2pm show on Sat May 14th. I did find two tickets in the orchestra and the rest are in the 3rd & 4th rows of the balcony. Not shabby! However, they all are $82.50 tickets, since everything else was WAY, WAY back. So, if you want to go but don't think you have the extra cash, we can work something out. I'm just happy to have everyone in the same place! I did go on the assumption that some people would be going, even though they might not be able to make it. So, those tickets may be up for grabs to others, or they'll be going on eBay. Here's my list of suspects:

Me, Jamie, Bren, 2-L, Joy, Chandler, Nicole, Molly, Julee & John, Joanna & James

Once I figure out the exact amount of each ticket, with the fees and everything, I'll let you guys know. No rush on getting paid back.

ETA: I just figured it out and they're 96.60 a piece. Damn Ticketbastard!

YAY!! I'm SO excited!!
leighblack: (Wicked - For a Reason)
Okay, kiddies. I finally have some ticket info for Wicked in Chicago. There is a pre-sale right now, and I'm working on getting a password since the actual onsale date happens to be while I'm in a meeting at work. Ticket info/prices are here. Tickets are 82.50, 62.50, 45.50 and 32.50. I realize that the 82.50 might be too expensive for some people, so I was thinking I might get some for those who want them, and some of the 62.50 for those who don't mind the balcony.

I'm going for either Sat May 14th or Sat May 21st. Probably the evening show, but the matinee is an option. I want to get tickets as soon as I can get my password, so I do need to know who's in. If you can't afford it right now, don't sweat. You can pay me back later. And if you're on the fence, let me know that too. I'll probably just get a ticket for you and then sell it if you can't make it.

So...roll call!!
leighblack: (Defying Gravity)
A while ago I threw out the question to see who might want to see Wicked when it's on tour in Chicago. I have some more details now, and an on-sale date for tickets, so I'd like to see about firming up some plans. By my count, we have a possible 12 people! Yay! So, first of all...

When: 2nd or 3rd week of May, either May 13-15 or May 20-22
How much?: I don't have prices yet, but other shows are $60-70, so I figure it should be pretty close.
Which show?: A Sat show, either the matinee or evening
Cast?: The cast hasn't been announced yet, but rumors are that Stephanie J. Block (who was just in The Boy From Oz) will be Elphaba and Kendra Kassebaum (well known to die-hard Rentheads) will be G(a)linda.

My plan right now is to see who is all in for sure, then I'll go ahead and buy all the tickets and you can mail or PayPal me the $$$. I'm aiming for either somewhere in the 10-15th rows in the orchestra, or the very front of the balcony. Since it's still a few weeks before the tickets go on sale, that should give people enough time to make up their minds. Once we get that all settled, we can work on transportation and a hotel. I'm more worried about the tickets.

If you're on the fence about it, I'd just like to say that it's a gorgeous musical! Fabulous staging, beautiful music, wonderful story. Believe me, I wouldn't take you all to see a horrible show. And you'll get to see me cry like a baby during "For Good," so that should be some incentive. ;)

Chandler, I was going to ask you if you still wanted to go to Toronto, as tickets go on sale on Monday, but I'm guessing that's out right now.

So, let me know what you think!

I wish I wasn't a big, huge, broke loser and that I was in Chicago right now. Muh girls [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux, [livejournal.com profile] jawakimchee and [livejournal.com profile] foxontherun have called a couple times and it sounds like they're having a fun (read: drunk) time. I really wish I was there. I miss everyone!

I did things this weekend. None of them very exciting. I hung out with some friends from high school, then went to [livejournal.com profile] taylorea's house. I did learn that my high school unrequited love is back in town from California, which scares me a little bit. I know we'll run into each other somewhere. We always do. I watched a lot of Homicide and made quite a few icons. Foxy, I have no idea if I remembered to send you the Genie ones. I'll check tomorrow. Rikki, still no Taime. Sorry, I'm getting there. Honest. Chandler, I didn't get to work on your mood theme. I'll do it tomorrow night, I swear.

I think I'm not going to be able to make it to Chicago this weekend. *ducks flying objects* I know, I know...I feel really shitty about it. I'm just BROKE, and there's no way I'm going to be able to afford the $50 in gas it's going to take me. Not to mention, the $$ for going out and food. I'm going to see what I can do, but at this point, I'm not going to be able to make it.

Another weekend soon, I promise.
leighblack: (Rio)
Who would be interested in a girls weekend in Chicago to see Wicked next spring? It's playing for about six weeks, so we have some choices about when we could go. I'm not looking for definite commitments, just who might be interested in joining in. [livejournal.com profile] auroram sounded interested when I brought it up last night, and I'm sure that I can talk [livejournal.com profile] taylorea into it. I MUST see this show! In fact, I'm almost contemplating going to see it when it's in Toronto too, since Idina is rumored to be in the cast.
leighblack: (Horns n Stars)
I am home now. Finally. See [livejournal.com profile] duckduck, I told you that you had nothing to worry about. I had a blast in Chicago with my girls at the Brides show and a lovely afternoon in Madison with [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus. I'll give actual details later.

Unfortunately, I didn't make it home in time to get my photos developed. But I'll have them tomorrow. *crosses fingers that they turn out*
leighblack: (HughPeek)
Once again, I found myself in Chicago... )
leighblack: (MetalHorns)
This one is kind of a doozy... )
leighblack: (MetalHorns)
I just wanted to say hi and that I made it home after following L.A. Guns for the weekend. It was so much fun!! It was so great to see [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux, [livejournal.com profile] littleweirdgirl, Rachel, Kim & Trista again. I will make sure to write up my journal about the whole weekend tomorrow. For now, enjoy this photo of Julee & I with our friend the Guinness beer bottle.

leighblack: (Rachel)
So, how many times is it before I've been to Chicago too many times in one year? Cause I'll be going again for Jane's Addiction on Dec 6th!! *drool* Dave...sigh... I'm so happy that I've been doing the chair dance at my desk.

I think that's all for me today. I'm going home to wait for [livejournal.com profile] rockerlee to get in and then we'll be heading up north for RATT!
