I really didn't want to drive all the way to Chicago to see Adler's Appetite, especially since the show was so expensive. But since all my girls were going to be there, I gave in and agreed to go, making it my 2nd trip to Chicago in two weeks. Sheesh!
My drive on Saturday was fine. Once again, it only took 6 hours to get to

We had a plan to eat dinner at the HOB so we could "Pass the Line" and get into the club before all the people stuck in the line outside. The food was highly excellent! While at the table, Lee and I started getting into it about the football game between my Minnesota Vikings and her Kansas City Chiefs. The game was on a TV in the bar area, so we were both cranking our necks to watch. Meanwhile, everyone else looked a little mystified about the whole thing.
We got in line, then got moved to another line, got metal wanded and finally got into the club. There were no cameras allowed, but Frog snuck one in, hidden in "that secret place." There were a few people that walked up the the front of the stage right away, but I decided to be a dork and ran, waving my arms and screaming. Hey, it's all in good fun. ;) Then we stood there for nearly an hour before Enuff Z'Nuff started. Lee & I continued checking the score of the game on our phones, with the Vikings kicking the Chiefs ass! Drinks were $7.50, so everyone decided to drink in moderation. We ran into Cherie, Teresa & Flynn from the LAG board, and we all kind of hung around in a big gang.
EZN finally came on and they sounded amazing! I guess I'm just used to seeing them in crappy clubs with crappy equipment. The HOB has a fantastic sound system, and you could really tell. Sadly, they didn't play very long, but they were all songs I knew from the Sludge tour. Lee & I were having a good time dancing around like dorks, even if we were pretty much the only ones. After EZN was done, Stef & Julee informed us that my Thomas, the Faster roadie extraoridinare, was there. We couldn't see him from where we were standing, so there was some shifting before Adler's Appetite started. Somehow, I ended up a little closer to Muscat's side of the stage, which didn't make me happy.
For those who don't know, Muscat & I got into this huge thing a couple months ago. He thinks I was wrong for what I did, I think he was wrong for how he acted. I apologized and was told that it seemed insincere, so whatever. I think he's being a big baby and I refuse to talk to him until he apologizes for how he acted. Now, you can say that I'm being stubborn, and that's fine. I don't really care. I just knew that I didn't really want him to see me at the show because I didn't want to start any trouble. i just wanted to have fun.
The clip of Jules reciting Ezekiel 25:17 from Pulp Fiction opened the show, which was cool. A lot of people in the audience knew it and spoke along with it, myself included. The gun shots went off, the opening notes of "Welcome to the Jungle" started and the curtain opened. All in all, a pretty cool opening. Personally, I thought that Adler's Appetite sounded terrific! It was a damn shame that they only got to play 5 songs, and then were rushed off the stage. I spent a majority of their set staring at the beauty that is Keri Kelli, who's crotch seemed to constantly be in our faces, and trying to get Thomas's attention. Muscat saw Melissa & Lee and was trying to be all "rock star." When they were done, Brent came over to give love and hugs to his adoring fans, but I made sure to step back away from him. Steven came out to slap hands at the front of the stage while Thomas was trying to pull him back. We managed to then totally embarrass Tommy by screaming for him. ;)
After the show, we hung around and mingled. I found Johnny Monaco from EZN by the merch table and got me some Monaco love. He's such a great guy! He gave me a huge hug and told me that he was glad to see me again. He also pulled my shirt aside to look at my FP tattoo. I told him that they sounded great and he thanked me, then told me that he wasn't so sure about that Steven Adler thing. That made me laugh.
I made my way back to the girls and Thomas came out to find us. I got a huge hug and a big kiss from my Tommy. I miss him so much! It was so great to see him again!! We talked for a minute, but he was on Steven-duty, so he had to go babysit him backstage. Brent came out to bask in the love of his adoring fans. I saw him come out, pointed him out to the girls and then turned my back on him. Lee said that he had to have seen me. They girls talked to him for a moment, but not for long and he disappeared backstage again.
We started watching George Lynch, but no one was al that impressed by him. Jizzy Pearl was spotted on the other side of the bar, so our crowd moved over to the other side. Frog adores him, but was having a hard time getting up the courage to say anything to him. He went backstage, but Robbie Crane stayed out in the crowd, holding court. We saw Stephanie, but it was really too noisy to hold a conversation.
Jizzy came back out again and I decided to bother him. Lee introduced him to Kim, saying that she was kind of shy. Then I told him that she really wanted a hug. He hugged her and then started talking about how she had been trying to use the Jedi mindtrick on him to get him to hug her. It was entertaining, but I think you had to be there. Eventually, we bothered him for photos and even made him take a photo of all of us together. Yes, I do love bothering rock stars!
George Lynch was boring us to death and there were many, many scary guys around, including White Jeans man, so we decided to take off. We sent Robbie in to get Thomas for us, which was a bad idea. Thomas finally appeared about an hour later, when we had already decided to just split. I got another big hug and declaration of love. I told him that I wish I could be in Vegas for New Year's, and he told me that it's not far and I should just drive it. Oh yeah, 25 hours isn't far. :/
Kim & I crashed at Julee's, while Lee & Melissa drove back home. We watched Sixteen Candles and ate pizza. Yay!! I just love being with my girlies!!
I drove back in the morning and spent the night at my parent's house for Pre-Christmas Eve dinner. My boss is gone from work all week, so I haven't really done anything all day. I have, however, been working on the spreadsheet, cataloging all of my tapes of videos. It's something I've always meant to do. It's bad though, because I'm singing every song in my head as I type it. :)
The weekend's total: $51 for the ticket, $21 for dinner, $13 for two drinks, $5 for my share of the parking and $35 in gas = a grand total of $125. Yikes!
