Okay. So, I don't have time to write a super detailed blog for my LA trip. We're going to go with the short hand version instead. If you'd like me to embellish anything, just ask!

Don't fly Delta! )
leighblack: (T-Rex - Holy shit!)
So, I get up this morning and check my email (as I do every morning) and notice that I have a MySpace message from Blackboard Jungle. Hmmmm. Interesting. I log in and see it's a note from Britt thanking me for posting my videos from the show on YouTube. He told me everyone's happy about them and that I rock. Yadda, yadda, yadda. So, I go over to their profile, and they've not only posted a blog advertising the videos but they've embedded them on their page. MY videos! =) The thing is that I hadn't told anyone that I had the videos up. I was going to let them know once I had both the vids and my photos posted (I swear I'll have the photos up tonight!). So, somehow Britt found out about them without me saying anything. Pretty damn cool. There's a reason why I love these guys!

Anyhow, Britt asked me to upload the actual videos for him since the YouTube quality is questionable, so I thought I'd post the links here in case anyone wants to download them. WARNING: There is bouncing peen in "You Spin Me." Which is why that one's not posted on YouTube. =)

Checking in from Burbank again. Last night was nuts! Literally. The crowd at BBJ was wild! I ran into a ton of people I knew, and met a bunch of new ones. Skyla remembered me! *squee* (I even had to do the 'Skyla remembered me' happy dance outside the bar) Killingbird was awesome! They played one of their new songs and Christian was rather astonished that I knew all the words already. Veins of Jenna were a lot of fun, even if I did spend a lot of their set texting [livejournal.com profile] polexxia. =) (And yes Marie, I did get a drink bought for me - that boy and I actually spent most of the night hanging out together) BBJ was insanely fabulous! I'm so glad I was able to go!! I got some really great photos (even if they were being dicks about photos at The Viper Room) and video too. No photos of the Britt peen though, because I don't really think we need more photos of that. It does sneak onto one of my videos though. It was hard to avoid! It was bouncing around right in front of my face. =O

Anyhow, it was a good time. I will, of course, have a big recap once I get home. We'll be off to Venice Beach later today, I do believe.

Blackboard Jungle at The Whisky

Now to start working on the journal entries from my trip...
leighblack: (Steve - omg!)
Blackboard Jungle was SO FUCKING AMAZING last night!!!! *fangirl squeal* We had a really great time. Much dancing and singing was to be had. I really think this was their best show so far.

Of course, I was a complete moron and forgot to bring the camera battery that I'd bought and my camera died partway through the night. But that's okay. I think Carly's friend has the picture thing covered. I just enjoyed the show, and getting love from the guys afterwards.

And yes, I was just walking through the bar at one point & someone came up to me and said "Aren't you Leigh?" I tell you, it happens everywhere.

The Faster Pussycat set...well...was kind of a disaster. But I still enjoyed it! I do like the new stuff. Except the stupid "ooh-la-la-la's" during "Boots," which are even worse live. I think I may have been the only person there who knew the words to "Hey You" and that may have included Taime. It was kind of cute how Xristian just shook his head at me when he saw me on stage. And I managed to have a completely coherent 4 minute conversation with Mr. Danny Nordahl.

And, for better or worse, my adoration for a certain individual nicknamed Chubsie has totally been renewed. Even if he was a complete drunken slob after the show. I think he paid more attention to me than he did to his girlfriend, which I guess isn't strange. And, apparently, I'm going to see Duran Duran in Kansas City now, because it's close to me. Me: "That's 8 fucking hours away." Him: "Yeah, close." Hmpf.

I'll have true trip updates when I get home, of course. Right now, I'd better go take a shower since I need to be at the airport soon. I'm going to miss all my old & new LA (and Chicago) friends so much!!! Bye!!

Yesterday, I went to a book reading/signing with my mom & aunt. The authors were John Sandford and my second cousin, Theresa Monsour. Her third book came out recently, but I haven't read it yet. It was pretty fun. The bookstore it was at is actually going out of business, and my mom picked up $130 worth of discounted romance books. Which she was going to sneak into the house so my dad didn't see them. Afterwards, we wandered down Grand Ave for a while, and ended up stopping at the Wild Onion for a drink and some snacks. It's still weird going to a bar with my mom, even though I've been 21 for more than a couple years. But, she paid, so I'm pretty much okay with feeling a little weird.

I know you all know by now that I'm a big sap underneath it all, but last night proved it. After I got home, and IM'd with [livejournal.com profile] cinful1 for a while, I turned out all the lights and watched the Rent teaser trailer like 10 times in a row. With tears just running down my face. *note to self: don't wear makeup to the theater when seeing the film* Everyone was so worried that Chris Columbus would ruin the movie, but that's far from the case. I think it's going to be stunning. And I really can't wait to see Rosario Dawson as Mimi. I'm sure she's going to do a great job!

Today crawled by at work. I couldn't wait to leave! And then I came home and took a nap. So much for being ultra-productive. Before my nap, I went over to the office to talk to the mamacita & my auntie about my rides to & from the airport. (My mom is actually going to drive all the way over here to pick me up, instead of me leaving my car at their house. How nice is that?) As I was leaving, a kid walked in and he was wearing a clock on a chain around his neck. I fucking kid you not. I had no idea people actually did that!

After I napped, I ran to Wal-Mart and picked up some extra drugs, nylons & film to bring along on my trip. I've got 12 rolls of film now, so I think I'm good. =) I also managed to find a really adorable skirt, which I think solves the problem I was having of what to wear on Sat night. I'm still willing to go shopping to find something better though. I've picked my books to bring along, sorted through all my clothes and I'm pretty much all packed now. I don't know why, except for the fact that I'm a huge dork, I dug out my ticket stub from when I saw Faster Pussycat & Blackboard Jungle together back in 1993. I'm not sure what purpose it serves, but it's coming with me. Oh, and when I got back from shopping, I found DJ Eric had left me a message inviting me to his BBQ on Sunday. Dammit! I'll already be on the way home.

This is my last post before I go. I might be able to check in while I'm gone, but don't expect anything. As usual, if you need to get a hold of me, email me at my yahoo email. I read it obsessively on my phone. Or text me if you have the number, or from my lj info page. [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly, I'll be seeing you in a matter of hours. [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus & [livejournal.com profile] missvn, I'll be seeing you guys in a couple days.

OMG!!!!! I'm going to see Faster Pussycat for the first time in almost TWO YEARS!!!!!

It's just starting to hit me. *squeeage*

ETA: I just heard from Tiffani and she's for sure going to be at the show too. All my favorite people I see once a year will be there! *hee*

Since yesterday's post was whiny, today's post will be about (mostly) positive things.

Reasons for Leigh to be happy:
- It's Friday
- It's a three-day weekend
- The new Katie Maxwell (aka [livejournal.com profile] katiemacalister) book was delivered to me yesterday
- My appetite seems to have finally returned
- Steve Valentine's Just Shoot Me episode is on tonight
- The trailer for the Rent movie should be popping up this weekend
- I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin tomorrow for the first time
- Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean, I'm going to see Crash on Sunday
- Even more thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean, I'm getting a massage after the movie
- I have a whopping huge two-day work week next week
- I'll be in LA in six days
- I get to see [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly, [livejournal.com profile] missvn and [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus next week
- I have enough $$ right now to cover my rent, and that's before I get my paycheck next week, so I'll have plenty of moolah to splurge with in la-la land
- I can actually go shopping this weekend for a new skirt to wear on my trip
- I get to see my Chaddy and my Faster Pussycat babies in 8 days
- I also get to dance & sing like it's 1993 to Blackboard Jungle in 8 days

And, perhaps not so happy for me, but maybe entertaining for you:
I've been letting my go rather au natural, except for the highlights [livejournal.com profile] taylorea put in a while ago. While I like the riotous mess of colors that my hair now has, I'm not so fond of the six gray hairs I plucked out the other night. And those were just from the top of my head! Who knows what's trapped inside that mess?!? *pouts*
leighblack: (Hugh - OMG!)
The BBJ show is Sat, June 4th! So, the date for my weekend in LA is now set. V, if you think you're going to go, we should try to coordinate. I'm sure I could get a connecting flight to O'Hare and we could fly out together. Chandler, I don't know what this means for my plans to fly out & see Wicked with you, since it doesn't start until the week after. I think I probably could afford to fly out twice. We need to talk. But YAY!!!! I'm so excited!! I get to see muh Carly, and finally get to see the baby! Oh yeah, and those BBJ boys. And hopefully Killingbird. *wishes*

Is it wrong to call in sick *coughcough* to work on say Monday because your new favorite TV show is having a marathon on A&E and you really, really want to see the first episodes?? And you don't have cable so you can't set it up to tape and have to go over to your parents to do it? And you can't really trust them to tape it for you because they still can't figure out their VCR? And since it's a twelve hour marathon, you'll need to switch tapes once? So you might as well just sit there and watch it, which means calling in sick? Just wondering.

I truly need mental help.
leighblack: (BBJ)
Today I hate UPS. Why can't they just deliver my package to my apartment office?? I've never had a problem with it before I moved to this building. For cripes sake, my MOM works in the office! She can sign for it, really she can. It's okay! I should just start sending my packages to the office instead of my apartment. Now, I have to wait all the way until tomorrow to pick up my package. *grumble*

And I am VERY impatient to get this package! Because when I checked the tracking on it, it came from San Francisco. Which means it's from Britt! Which means a rocker FINALLY came through with the promise to send me stuff!! I'm in shock! I'm dying to know if he happend to throw in any little extras with the flyer he promised to send me. It seems from the weight that it's a little heavier than just a piece of paper. Dammit! *waits impatiently*

And I have my Blackboard Jungle photos posted here. Enjoy!

Yes, I have successfully made it back from the wilds of Los Angeles. I had THE MOST wonderful time!!! Of course, what would a trip to LA be without drama? There was plenty of that too. But the show was AMAZING! One of my favorite shows ever. BBJ sounded about a million times better than last year. And since I know Killingbird this time, I highly enjoyed their show. I even got a shout out during it! 'Cause I rock and all. And my future husband is still the sweetest guy on the planet. sigh...

One of the reasons my weekend was so wonderful:

Yep, your eyes do not deceive you. That's Ann with me & Carly.

I plan to write up a whole big entry about the weekend tomorrow, complete with photos. I'm just very depressed that I didn't get to see the Tony Awards, because it sounds like Hugh was all sparkly & sexy. *sniff sniff* I won't have time to watch it until Wednesday! How will I last that long?!? At least he won. Good for him. The countdown for my trip to New York can begin now that the LA trip is over. 56 days 'til I see The Boy From Oz!

Right now, I just need sleep since I got about 2 1/2 hours last night. And I couldn't crash on the plane because the couple next to me talked for the...entire...flight. In Chinese, no less. I wanted to smack them!! I need my rest, people! Work with me!!
leighblack: (O Face)
"I was just a fresh young thing
When I waved goodbye to everything
Sure was great, so glad to know you
Lost myself in California"

I doubt that I'll be able to post anything tonight, as I still have to pack for my trip. Most of the stuff I'm bringing is in a big pile next to the suitcase, but not actually in the suitcase. :/ So, I thought I'd come on here and say so long, suckers!! I will soon be in the land of smog and self-imagined rock stars. And I will love every moment of it!

I got my new outfit yesterday, and it's way cute!. I have my shower present for the baby. I have film & Sharpies. So, I think I'm ready. All I need yet is a new pair of sunglasses to replace the ones Casey Chaos broke and I'm all set!

My future husband told me last night that he can't wait to see me. Yay!! *giggly fangurl mode* I know, I know. I'm making it out to be a bigger deal than it is. Let me have my moment, all right??? Hopefully we'll be able to hang at the 'Bow with them before the show, if [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly feels up to it.

And since I forgot to do this yesterday:

Questions by [livejournal.com profile] rockerlee

1. If FP were to play that college you live right next door to (hey, it could happen) and Blackboard Jungle were to play their very last reunion show in say, Chicago, the very same night, which show would you attend?

Uh, BBJ's very last reunion show? Not a fake "last" show?? Actually, I guess that's not a hard decision. It would be BBJ. Chad would understand why I had to miss their show. And it's not like I wouldn't see Faster another billion times. I LOVE my BBJ!!

2. Your bookstore hosts a Brent Muscat book signing...would you attend at all? Call in sick if you had to work? Or would you still be there? ;)

Yes, I would attend. Because even though I'm not a big fan of the little twerp, I'd still want to get people to attend his signing. So I would do my best to encourage everyone I know to show up and with that, I would need to be there myself. But I still wouldn't talk to him until he apologized. ;)

3. Speaking of books, I know you own a bajillion of them, but what's your #1 favorite book ever?

Gah. It used to be Interview With a Vampire, but over the past few years my tastes have really evolved. Now I would say my favorite book is Killing Dance by Laurell K. Hamilton. It's my very, very favorite book of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series and I've probably read it five times.

4. Which one would you choose? To never have sexual contact with anyone ever again, or to never see another concert ever again?

What the hell kind of question is this?!? Sheesh! Well...since I'm kind of going without the sexual contact thing now anyways...I guess that's what I'll give up. I don't think I could give up live music.

5. And finally...choose ONE...Hugh Jackman or Chad Stewart? ;)

Hmmm...Hugh has treats his wife like a queen while Chad treats his women like, well less than queen-like. Plus, he has that sexy accent. So, I'll go with Hugh. I guess. That's kind of a painful decision.

I don't have all that much to write, but thought I'd give an update anyways.

* Minnesota sucks! Yesterday's high was 5 and Sunday's was 8. Today it's supposed to get all the way up to 13. I really need to move.

* Dog sitting this weekend went well. Except for having to walk them Sun morning in the bitter cold wind. And my aunt making fun of me for becoming as neurotic as my mother.

* Along Came Polly had it's moments, but was pretty dumb. It had it's uses though, since the Van Helsing promo was very pretty to watch on the big screen! :p

* [livejournal.com profile] taylorea, Jess & I spent way too much time shopping for scrapbooking supplies on Sunday. We ended up at three different places! However, we also went to Torrid and I got a lovely Captain Jack Sparrow shirt, so that was good.

* I got to work this morning and was greeted by an email from the Blackboard Jungle list. They have joined myspace, are in the process of making a DVD (yay!), and are making plans for another reunion show in June (double yay!!!). Perfection would be that Killingbird opens again. I went over to myspace to add BBJ to my list, only to already have an invite from them to join their list. That was kind of cool! Can't wait 'til June!

* [livejournal.com profile] jawakimchee has alerted me to the fact that Velvet Revolver will be touring the upper Midwest in April. They're scheduled to play here on Sat Apr. 17th! A Saturday? Cool! Let's hope that Weiland doesn't get in trouble and this actually happens.
