What do we have here??

To sum everything up right now, I had a fucking blast this weekend!! Fun x 20. I really, really needed that, as life has been rather stale lately. Sat night was the Brides of Destruction show in Chicago at The Metro and I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus in Madison on Sunday afternoon.

It all started very, very early on Sat morning. I gathered together all my stuff, picked up my usual road trip treats of Red Bull and jerky and was on my way. [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus had been kind enough to call me the night before and let me know that there was huge road construction tie-ups in Menomonie, so I headed down to I-90 through La Crosse instead. There's nowhere near as much traffic on 90 as there is on 94, so it actually went faster than normal. Okay, like anyone cares my drive. Moving on...

I made it to [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux's place on time. We had planned to meet up at her place, drift over to the club and monitor the line from across the street, and get in line when necessary. However, [livejournal.com profile] littleweirdgirl called us while we were getting ready, and said that there were already people in line! More than three hours before the doors were to open?!? Yipes! So, Julee and I kicked into overdrive and got ready as quickly as possible. [livejournal.com profile] jawakimchee and Jezi arrived on time and we blew out of Julee's place.

A bit about Jezi. This girl is nuts! She lives in Buffalo and was following the Brides for several shows. She had met Nikki the night before at the Detroit show and got his autograph on her lower back. Which she then got tattoed onto her. Nice! She fits in with us perfectly! We'd never met her before, but knew her from around the boards. I'm glad we got to hang with her, as she's really sweet!

The line was really only Stef and this other guy, with some other people milling around by the bus. Not a big deal, but we wanted to be in front, so we went over to stand in line. I saw Jay right away and gave him a big hug. It's always nice to give the roadies a little love. Now, I have no idea what I was expecting. I mean, it is May and all. It was damn ass cold out there! I was ready for the show in a sleeveless shirt and a skirt. Not such good planning. But I perservered and stood there in the freezing ass wind. We did go across the street for food once, as I hadn't eaten all day, but otherwise we all stayed where we were. Of course, I managed to run into people I knew, like Teresa, Mike, Melissa, Brenda & Suzy. I just can't seem to go anywhere without seeing someone I know! Nikki wandered by the crowd a couple times, as did Tracii. Much screaming took place. Scot wandered by several times, but didn't get really get the love. Poor guy.

Finally, after nearly three hours, we were let in. Surprisingly, there was no pushing or anything. We got our places against the railing and pretty much didn't move for the rest of the night. We couldn't! There were way too many people jammed around us. People were trying to buy our spots at the front! Yeah, I don't think so. I had this very persistant chick behind me, who kept trying to get her arm across the fence. I don't really play that game though, so I had her completely blocked. There was about three to four feet between us and the stage, with security milling around. I happened to be standing in front of the step that was on the fence, so the bands could get off the stage and onto the step to get near the crowd. More on that later.

Thankfully, the show started on time, so we didn't have to stand there bored for very long. Living Things
opened up the show. They were okay, not spectacular. Apparently, they got a bulk deal on tight black jeans and black T-shirts. Their drummer was very entertaining to watch, as he had very fluffy hair. The lead singer got a little rowdy and started jumping around, swinging the mike, etc. He unzipped his jeans and they only reason they were staying up on his skinny little body were that they were so tight. Which was good, because he got onto the step that was in front of me, which put his crotch just about even with my face. Then he started thrusting towards the crowd. What exactly are you supposed to do in that situation? I guess if I was into him I was supposed to molest him or something. But I wasn't, so I just kind of stood there and laughed at how ridiculous it was.

AMEN was next up. They started out with the singer barging out and crashing into the drum kit, knocking down quite a lot of it. Sweet! They were so much fun to watch!! The singer, Casey Chaos, was very, very flexible, and constantly bending backwards and collapsing onto the stage. He also climbed the lighting fixtures, threw his band mates into the stacks, demolished the drum kit about three hundred more times and actually fell off the stage. All without missing a beat. It was great!

Casey Chaos

He also climbed onto the step in front of me. My safety instinct kicked in, so I reached out to brace him. He grabbed my hand, held it to his chest and wouldn't let go. He was trying to sway out over the crowd, and I got pulled along a little, essentially stuck to his sweaty body. I didn't mind so much. They are the reason my neck is still sore, as I was really rocking out to them. I cannot wait to see them again tomorrow night!!

Acey Slade

The Brides were up next and things were still happening on time, which is pretty much amazing. Seeing as how we were on Nikki's side of the stage, it was crowded and getting a little rowdy. There were quite a lot of chicks around lusting after him. Me, not so much. I just wanted to see the show.

Nikki Sixx

And it was a great show! I had a death grip on the railing so no one could push me out of my spot. I was constantly getting hit in the head, my hair pulled, slammed in the back, etc. It was a real rock show! They sounded terrific. I was a little worried about how London would sound, but he did great. He was really getting into the crowd and acting like a lead singer should. He totally nailed the Crue songs!

London LeGrand

They played almost all the Brides songs, then did three LA Guns songs and another five? four? Crue songs. It's a little fuzzy. It was completely sweet to hear Tracii play "Rip & Tear" live! It's my very favorite LAG song!!

Tracii Fucking Guns

Nikki dumped water all over Julee & Stef at some point. Mike came over after the show and dumped the rest of the water over me. I was fairly happy about that as I was pretty hot. And sore and bruised. We got kicked out of the club as they had a techno night afterwards. We stood out by the buses for awhile, trying to decide if we should stay or go. Jay tried to convince us that we might have a chance to meet Nikki, but I wasn't buying it. We drifted over to the restaurant across the street to sit for a little while. Julee was out smoking and saw them sneak Nikki onto the bus. We finally decided that there was no real chance of meeting anyone and hopped into Julee's car.

We traveled to The Nightcap to see Happenin' Harry and The Haptones. I've never seen them before, but heard alot about them. Julee & Stef have seen them quite a few times. Dizzy Reed from Guns N' Roses is in the band, which is kinda cool. They were supposed to go on at midnight, but it quickly became apparent that that was not happening. In fact, they went on a little before two.

Now, this is the embarrassing part. I was freezing inside that place. I was wearing Julee's jacket and using her furry coat as a blanket over my legs. I was trying to curl up into a little ball to stay warm. In doing this, I was getting quite comfortable. And yes, I actually fell asleep in the bar. Not because I was drunk, but because I was tired. Dead tired. I'd been up since 6am! It was packed & noisy, there was a band playing and I fell asleep. Sheesh! At least I wasn't alone, as Stef also crashed for a little while. Julee tried to get Harry to poke us awake, but he just teased us.

Harry finally went on and I perked up a little bit. They're a cover band, but they're really good. And they have chicks in the band! That's always cool. As they were playing, I noticed that Scot from the Brides was across the bar. I waited until he came over to our side, then got his attention. What a sweetie! Not to mention, pretty damn cute. He ended up on stage with Harry and sang a couple songs. After he got off stage, I grabbed him for a photo. Ain't we cute??

Scot Coogan & me

The show finally finished around 3am or so. We stood around for a while, as Jezi wanted to see Billy Sheehan, who had joined them onstage. Kim just wanted to go, as they needed to drive back to St. Joseph yet. We did manage to remember to get the obligatory group shot before leaving.

Stef, Jezi, Kim, me & Julee

We got Stef home, Kim & Jezi headed off for MI and Julee & I finally crashed around 4am. I crashed hard! My body pretty much shut down as soon as I hit the couch. Yet, I was up, showered and out the door before 11am. [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus and I had made plans for lunch in Madison, and I wasn't going to miss it.

I managed to find my way through town without getting lost. There were people everywhere as it was graduation weekend. In fact, Chandler had just graduated the day before. (yay!!) We met up and wandered down State St, looking for a place to eat. We ended up at Nick's and had some pretty good grub. Then we went for ice cream and did some shopping. I got the Crossfade CD, which happens to rock. We walked over to his place so I could see it. It was pretty cool with a nice view of the lake. Then, because I'm such a damn nice person, I took Chandler to the grocery store so he could pick up some food. Before I left, we made sure to take photos together. It's a good thing that his arms are a lot longer than mine, or else they wouldn't have turned out so adorable. I would have just gotten our noses or something. I can't decide which one I like better, so I'm just going to post them both. What can I say? I'm a camera whore at heart, I guess.

We had a really nice afternoon. I wish I would have been more awake, because then I would have been more exciting company. I'm just happy that he's moving back to Minnesota so I'll get to see him! I see some serious karaoke nights in our future! Not to mention a Hugh marathon/sleepover or two. Or three or four. ;)

I finally left Madison and sped my way home. I'm still very nervous around other drivers, which I was hoping would get better once road trip season started. I'm just completely paranoid about people driving over the line and sideswiping me. I don't know why I'm paranoid about it, other than so many people seem to be drifting across lines around me lately. Also, my car decided to shed some non-essential pieces on my trip. The rubber piece between the windshield and the frame came loose and then the rubber bumper on the passenger door started to come off. I guess my car didn't like having to work so hard or something.

All in all, it was a great trip! Super fun show, great company and lots of good memories!! I'll have the pictures up on my website...sometime...eventually. Fuck it, I don't know when. I'm busy, leave me alone.
