A long meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] amazonqueenkate

because I'm not motivated to do anything constructive )

I made $30 today by fixing my mom's cousin's DSL connection. Normally I don't like being suckered into doing computer work for the fam but I needed the cash something bad. Now I have money to eat and put gas in my car! Hooray! Having to choose between them always sucks.

The suck ass part about taking a four hour nap before bedtime is that it's nearly impossible to get back to sleep at a normal time. I didn't fall asleep until 3am this morning. =/ Today is going to be extra caffeinated. I can tell.

Also, I must have slept weird because I have a huge, painful crick in my neck. To the point that I can't turn my head very far to the left. Ouch. I'm very happy that I get paid tonight so that I can make a massage appointment for tomorrow. Because something seriously needs to be done.

I am trying very, very hard to resist bidding on [livejournal.com profile] laughingirl's auction for a boxing glove signed by Nathan Fillion. Sure, there are plenty of reasons to bid. It's for boobs, after all. And I try to win one of her auctions every year. And it's something that Nathan Fillion touched. But hi, I'm broke right now. And am going to LA in about a month and need money for my trip. But still... I guess I'll just have to see if the bidding has gotten higher when I get home tonight.

Bah!

I know some folks look outside and think "Oh, how pretty! The first snow!" All I see is what a fucking nightmare it's going to be to get to work tomorrow. =(

Thanks to my mom for saving my ass and giving me her check card so I could put gas in my car. Otherwise there's no way I'd make it to work tomorrow anyways. Being broke blows.

Nip/Tuck better not suck again tonight. At some point, this season HAS to get better. It definitely can't get worse.

Oh, and my insomnia seems to be back. Happy day.

If someone could explain why "Who's That Guy" from Grease 2 is stuck in my head, I'd be eternally grateful.

I got my raise today! It works out to about $35 more every paycheck, which isn't too bad. It's a tank of gas & a trip to the Bell. Unfortunately, I'm BROKE, even though I got paid today. I have about $100 for the next two weeks, and at least $60 will need to be gas money. =/ I'm hoping my dad will let me give him the money I owe him on my next payday. Then I won't be in such dire straits.

I have other update type things, but I'm actually BUSY at work, so they'll have to wait 'til later.

Ugh!

I just went out to lunch and gas went up another 20¢. It's $2.99 right now. I know you Coastal folk and foreign types are laughing, but that's a pretty big and sudden jump. It was $2.45 just on Sunday. It's only going to get worse while the refineries in the Gulf are down. I'm already spending about $200 a month in gas, just to get back and forth from work. Soon, I'm going to have to get a second job again, just to pay for my gas to my day job. No more road trips anytime soon, that's for sure.

Yes, I know there's people much worse off than I am. But it's my journal, and my whining is allowed. Plus, life still has to go on.

This just sounds awful, from WWL-TV Blog:
12:11 P.M. - Army Corps: Water has become level with the Lake in the city so no more water should flow into the city, except at high tide.

It's good that no more water will be pouring in, but I can't even possibly imagine how much water there already is. It's level with the Lake?!? I know the Lake level went down dramatically, since the water was all pouring out, but that's still alot of water and it's pretty deep. I don't care if I have to ride out on a skateboard. If I'm ever told to evacuate my neighborhood, I'm going. Dying in a cesspool of filth is not for me.

In other news, I got my review at work yesterday, and it was only three weeks late. That's not too bad. It just reinforced the fact that even though many days I sit here and do nothing, my boss still LOVES me. This is not a bad thing. Hopefully, my backpay and raise will be on my next check.

owwwwie

My finger still freaking hurts. I feel like such a wuss, because really, it's not like it's a real injury or anything. But it's still swollen and typing at work ain't helping much. I decided I should make a splint or something last night to keep it straightened out while I slept, but realized that I didn't have a splint, or gauze or any medical tape. So, I improvised with a small emery board, a Ponds facial cloth and duct tape. Macguyver, eat your heart out!

Don't forget! Tomorrow night is my birthday party! Again, we're going to Jersey's to see Holiday. There's directions on the website, but let me know if you need help finding it. Simplified Directions ) I'm not exactly sure on a time. I thought we'd try to get there around 8:30ish, so we could get a table or booth or whatever. That way we have some time to chat before the music starts. But, stop by whenever! I don't know how late everyone will stay, since some people will need to get up for work on Friday.

Lee? Do you need directions again? Just in case ) I don't know what time you were planning to come up, but I get home around 4pm and anytime after that is fine. Call me when you get to the MN border, so I know kind of where you are. Tommy is doing a CD signing at the Sprawl of America on Thursday night, but I wasn't planning on going, since there's all kinds of rules. And you HAVE to buy his CD and I'm broke. But if you want to go, we can certainly do that. Just let me know. Oh, and the forecast for Friday (since we'll be outside) is a high of 80º, with a chance of rain. It's been a little chill at night, but no need for a parka or anything.

And can you bring your Fastback CD with you? *pretty please* I did end up getting the Jani Lane CD, so I'll burn that for you, and you can go through and pick anything else you want a copy of.

My dad gave me $20 last night, since I'm totally broke. Some of it is going into my gas tank (otherwise there's going to be an issue with getting back & forth from work tomorrow), but what do you think I'll spend the rest of it on?? Do you think I'll be responsible and buy food? Or that I'll be dropping off a roll of film from Saturday night? Yeah, I think we all know the answer. ;)

Note to self - things to remember to do tonight:
Clean apartment so it's a little less like a pig sty
Change sheets and towels
Clean apartment office

Okay, I know a lot of this stupid show is staged, but this is still pretty damn funny! "Normally, I wouldn't even get up at this hour for sex." "Pleasedon'tcallonme. Pleasedon'tcallonme. Pleasedon'tcallonme." *snerk*

I'm pissed that I couldn't afford to go to Rock Never Stops tonight. I'm pissed that I can't afford to buy Sin City today. But I am super-happy that I watched Joey Grey sing "Razzle Dazzle" with a chorus of Muppets in tuxedos today! My Muppet Show DVDs rock!!

Tom Cruise is certifiably insane

In other news: it's Friday!! And I get to leave this place in 45 mins. And then I'm going to raid my parent's freezer because I'm b-r-o-k-e and hungry. Why couldn't the weeks when I lost my appetite have been when I have no money? =(

Whoo-hoo!

Today is payday! I don't think I've ever been happier to see some $$$. And, even better, I finally got my review a couple weeks ago. It had been due at the beginning of August, so I also got all my retro-pay that was owed for my raise. I didn't get a huge raise or anything, but big compared to what the average percentage increase is around here. So, all in all, I got an extra $200 today. I'm SO going shopping! I have to get my sweater and hat for my Halloween costume today, then I'm going wig & broom shopping tomorrow. And we're going to the scrapbooking store on Sunday! I can't believe how excited I am for that. I really am a geek.

Oh, and if you can't tell, I'm feeling much better today. Sleep is such a wonderful restorative.

So, I had a good Christmas. It was SO chaotic last night!! Children running, fighting, kicking, screaming everywhere!!

Here is my dilemma right now. I got enough money/gift cards to get my new DVD player this weekend, so that's covered. (Yay!) But my grandma decided to go all out and give all of the grandkids our inheritance as we're not written into her will. We each received $500 dollars, not a ton but enough to buy something nice for ourselves. I want to spend it on something that I'll appreciate, so the money has some meaning. My two choices that I've come up with are to replace the two speakers that are blown in my car and FINALLY install a CD player. (Yes, even though I spend half my life in my car, I still have a crappy tape player) I'd then save the rest of the money for a future trip to LA. Or...and this makes me salivate...I can finally get a LCD flat panel monitor for my computer. I use my computer nearly every moment that I'm home, so it would be wonderful, but my old monitor is perfectly fine. It's just big and clunky. This would be so nice and little and clear!

I have plenty of time to decide and all. I am moving next weekend, and that's really my priority right now. Buying new stuff is just extra. But nice!
leighblack: (ChadFinger)
Do you ever get so damn tired that you are just hyper-awake, with no hope of getting sleep anytime soon? That's how I've been all day. I'm SO tired. Yet sitting up and fucking 'round on the puter. sigh...

Even though I was all ready to stay home this weekend and save some money, I have changed my mind (with the help of some bribery from [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux) and am gearing up for another road trip. We're apparently going to the middle of nowhere to see Killingbird in Wisconsin this weekend. I'm excited about it! They rock live!!

I had a very boring, normal weekend last weekend. I worked on Sat morning, helped my aunt with some computer stuff and then took [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and Mandrew out for dinner with the gift card I won in the costume contest. Damn it was good!! I wish we could actually afford to eat there. Sun morning was the second meeting of our It's a Really Good Book group. I thought it went pretty well, even though I didn't like our book. We're reading The Eyre Affair next, which sounds like it's kind of twisted. Then [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and I spent the rest of the day scrapbooking. We did it for hours! We went through five movies!! How sad is that?? But my album is looking pretty good and I've got quite a bit done.

I feel like I'm in a very strange place right now. I have nothing to complain about (except being broke all the time, which is my own fault), I'm enjoying life and even looking forward to winter. But so many of my friends are having some real problems in their lives. I can't really comiserate with them, all I can do is be there.
leighblack: (MetalHorns)
So, I decided to say "fuck it" and as long as I'm already short on my rent and not able to pay it until Friday, I might as well be even more short and get my film developed. So I just dropped it off a little while ago. I can't wait to see the photos!!

Originally, when I thought my plane ticket to LA/San Fran was going to be $250-300, my mom agreed to buy it as my birthday/Christmas present. Usually I get $200 for Christmas and $50 for my b-day, so I told her I'd pay anything extra. That was all cool. Well, when the ticket only turned out to be $198, I figured it would be my Christmas present & I could get $50 cash for my trip for my bday. Cool! Yesterday, my mom tells me that she'll give me the plane ticket for my birthday & watching the dogs for her this weekend. So I still get a Christmas present! How fucking cool is that?!? And I'm pretty sure she's going to give me the $200 cash for my present early so I'll have it for my trip. Happy days! That's lots of Jager for my drummer boy! :) Even though she'll never read this, I love my mom.

Then today, my boss is working on mapping out all of our vacation time to send up to HR. Apparently they're going to start tracking it up there, rather than at the department manager's level. Since I transferred into this department in May, my boss asked me a couple questions about my vacation time used in my old department. Then she says "And you carried over two days from last year, right?" Now, I KNOW this is not true. I think I carried over an hour or two, but not two days. So, I said "I'm not sure. I guess I did. Sure, I did." Jill said "That's what I wanted to hear." even though I could tell that she knew I didn't have two extra days. So, again, how cool is that?!? Now I have two more road tripping days!! This will come in handy for LA Guns this fall & Killingbird in Nov.

I promise that I will write a big, long, pointless entry about my weekend with LAG, [livejournal.com profile] rockerlee and Brenda very soon. I just don't have time today.

Today's link is Britney Underground. Taylorea, this one's just for you!

My allergies are SO fucking bad right now that my teeth hurt. Don't ask me how that happens, but they hurt. REALLY hurt!! It's something to do with my glands being swollen or something. My voice is raspy, my throat hurts, I have a fever - life is great! And I'm going up north to commune with nature. Fantastic.

No, I really am looking forward to this weekend. Maybe I can work my way into sleeping inside instead of in the tent.

I borrowed $$ from my mom to develop the rest of my photos from this weekend. Of course, I didn't tell her why I needed the money. I got the "You're not going to be gallavanting around anymore now, right?!?" line before she gave me the money. But who cares? My photos are fantastic! The Creeps ones are just terrific, if I do say so myself. I'm going to try to get them up on the site tomorrow night.

I'm off to take some Sudafed and go to sleep...

Whoo-hoo!

Just when I was in despair because I have no money, my property tax refund showed up in my mailbox today!! An extra three hundred dollars!! First order of business is to buy the Moto CD. Then food. Then booze.
