So, is bandom flipping their shit today? I think it's a good idea for me that I mostly stay out of it. I like the bands. I don't want to get into following their personal lives or knowing much about them.

Apparently I actually am the Harbinger of Doom, but just for my electronics.

- My iTrip stopped working correctly since the the wire is loose. It was my own fault since I kind of abuse it. I finally replaced it this weekend since I can no longer drive in my car without my iPod.

- My jump drive is pretty much hosed. I use it every day, since I have Firefox on it to use at work. And I carry different files and things back and forth from home. I can still sort of get it to work but it desperately needs to be replaced.

- My earbuds died last week. Well, the left one died. I also replaced them this weekend since I must have them for work. Yes, must.

- When I was trying to use my laptop at [livejournal.com profile] duckduck's on Friday night, I realized that it wasn't recognizing the battery. Apparently it's dead. =( If I need to replace it, I might as well upgrade to the longer life battery. Can't afford it right now though.

- MY IPOD BATTERY IS DEAD. This is bad. I cannot get it to charge. Not connected to my laptop, in my car or using the AC adapter. It still works as long as I have it plugged in, so I can listen at work and in the car at least. It should be under warranty, but getting to the Apple Store is going to be an issue since I do not have any free time until the 21st. Yes, that's 11 days from now. Oh, and I'm flying to Detroit in that time and would really really like to have my iPod with me. =( I guess I'll be switching back to my old one for a while. Hopefully it still works okay.

*sigh*

Ugh. Electronics suck sometimes. :-P

I haven't seen anyone in bandom actually flipping their shit, but then again, I tend to isolate myself over in my nice little corner here. :) The general reaction I've seen to today's news is "um, okay, cool?" Heh.

Oh, by the way - who's driving on Saturday? I can, if we want the option of switching drivers.

Eh, maybe it would be worse if it didn't obviously have *PUBLICITY PLOY* written all over it in big, blinking letters.

Is it okay if we take your car? I desperately need to get my oil changed and won't have time to do it before Saturday.

I'm good with driving! I need an oil change, too, but I didn't drive much at all this winter, so I'm pretty sure I haven't gone 5000 miles since Labor Day, even with the drives to Chicago and Madison. Thus, I'm not too worried.

That tech doom must be making its rounds. My left earbud died today, too.

Sorry about your iPod battery. Damn, dude. This stuff always hits at the worst times. **shakes head**

I usually only listen with one earbud at work, since I need to hear people sneaking up on me. But I still want both to work, you know?

Thanks. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't so busy the next couple weeks. I just don't have time to take care of things like this right now.

I think I started the tech doom with my VCR recorder dying. Sorry!

I'm pretty sure it all started when I killed my cell phone a couple weeks ago. =/

I think my ipod battery is close to calling it quits too. I've already had some close scares with it. It was actually the first thing on my list to replace but then Scott Gomez killed my camera and I had to replace that first. But it's definitely first again now.

I've only had it since November. The battery shouldn't be bad already. =(

Thank goodness flash drives have gotten so cheap! I have a huge stack of the darn things cuz they're soooo useful. Hell, when I bought blank DVDs the other day, the package came WITH a flash drive attached as a freebie. Not that I needed a 256-megger (since I've got a 16 gig, a 2 gig, a 1 gig, etc....)but that's become my personal favorite way of sharing files with folks, so....

Yeah, I'm looking at some super cheap ones on eBay. I'll probably upgrade to a 2G, since I tend to download all kinds of things at work and get lazy about remembering to move them to my laptop.

I'm seeing retail stores selling 4 gig jump drives for $20.. is it even worth buying them on ebay? I've never looked.

You Canadians and your fancy dollar that's actually worth something.

If I looked around enough I could probably find something here as cheap as eBay. Maybe.

Dude, if you want we can hit up an Apple store while you're here on Friday. If it doesn't take them like 436523464326 days to get you a new battery, but I don't see why they wouldn't just replace it while you're standing there. Seems easy enough to me?

Date: 2008-04-11 01:52 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] leighblack.livejournal.com
Maybe? I think usually though they actually give you a new iPod, rather than replace the battery. If it's under the warranty.

Either way, if it's something a quick in and out will take care of, I'm game.

Wow, that sounded bad. HA.

Okay add to that - I'll take any excuse to go to my favorite mall!

I kind of doubt that it's going to be easy. It'll be fine if I just wait until I get back. There's an Apple Store in the Mall of America.

But shopping will be A-OK with me! =)

ugh no ipod...just the thought of it horrifies me.
I hope you get it sorted hon. Didn't you just buy a new one as well???

I got it in November, so the battery should still be under warranty. It's just getting a chance to go have it replaced that's the issue. For now I'm just using my old one. =/
