In domestic ducks, you always have to have a LOT more hens than drakes in a flock of ducks, because otherwise the drakes will gang up and basically screw a female to death. It's not very cute. Kinda ugly, really.
Fortunately wild ducks are somewhat territorial, so apparently threesomes are more the norm ;)
