Crud

I've been able to feel it since this morning. That little tickle in the back of my throat. It's been getting a little bit worse as the day has gone on. My glands are slightly swollen and I have a low-grade fever. I'm definitely getting sick. Crud. Crud. Crud. I'll be sick for the next two months now and there's nothing I can do about it. =(

One of my CubeMates - one I actually really like - was let go this morning. Errr, technically his position was eliminated. I couldn't tell you why he was let go. He works hard and is super intelligent. Someone we should definitely keep around. I'm sure it's all down to his salary needing to be eliminated. How sad is that? He graciously agreed to stay for a few hours today to close out some things and pass things along. I would have been out of here 30 secs after they gave me my severance package. Our boss, the one I never ever see or talk to, still hasn't been over to talk to him, as far as I can tell. That's pretty shitty. HR let him go and now he's been talking to the GayCubeMate for a while about what's out there to work on. ChickCubeMate picked a bad day to call in sick.

That's all. Maybe the day will get better later. I doubt it.

Dude! That sucks! Yeah, Clear Channel is famous for "eliminating the position." Usually, what that means is that they get to skim the salary for the position that's "no longer needed" and redistribute the work to other people, without upping THEIR salary. Nice.

It's sad to hear about someone who sounds like a cool guy and a hard worker being "let go" (the P.C. term for it, I guess) with no real reason. He handled it better than I would. I'm with you on that my ass woulda been outta there in T minus NOTHING! (Please believe ;)

On a brighter note, your movie was nominated for like 8 Academy Awards! I haven't seen it yet, but I'll take your word for it so far. I'm still pulling for Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon for "Walk the Line." I think you'd really enjoy that one, too!

A few other positions were elminated in other departments, and a couple openings won't be filled. It's just a small cut compared to other ones we've had.

He's still over at his desk chatting with people. I can't believe it. He'll probably be leaving soon though, as the DatabaseMoron turned off his network access already. Even though DatabaseMoron got the same termination paperwork I did, which stated that he'd be here until the end of the day.

I know! Isn't that awesome? I hope it does well. I still need to see Walk the Line, but I will definitely go. I think my dad wants to see it still, so maybe we'll go together.

AAWW...I hope you feel better! We just got done passing the flu around the house twice!! Get lots of rest and drink hot tea!

Thanks. It's not the flu. Just the same cold I get once or twice a year. Not hot tea for me though. I'm sticking with DayQuil and water.

Well, my mom did invite me over for dinner, then sent me home with leftovers and DayQuil. So, I guess the day did get better.
