Date: 2005-10-14 11:47 pm (UTC)Man I don't know how you managed 3 1/2 years??!
I remember when my parents still had dial-up and I thought it was pretty good when it didn't boot me off like twice in an hour. But as soon as they got boradband...OMG!!! So welcome, welcome...yeah faster downloads. I seem to remember an 8minute video or something would take about 6 hours! Now...45 seconds!
BTW? What does ETA stand for??

Date: 2005-10-15 02:22 am (UTC)The trick is that you can only open a certain number of frames of the mpeg, otherwise the program will freeze up and die. So, if you have a video splitting program, you can isolate the chunk of the mpeg you want to use and delete the rest of it. If not, it's just more time consuming, because you have to open it a section at a time.
Open AS3. Go to file>open and search for your mpeg. A little screen will open that asks how many frames you want to open. I usually open 200 at a time, but if the frames are really big, you might need to open less than that. Once you have your frames opened, you can go through the animation and see if these are the frames you want. You can delete frames off. You can save certain frames as images. If these aren't the frames you want, close it and reopen with the next 200 frames.
Once you have the frames you want opened in AS3, you can use them for your mini-movie. If you need help with making the icon itself, try looking through these tutorials: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=icon_tutorial&keyword=Movie+%28mini-movie%29+Icons&filter=all
Does that make any sense? It's really easy once you figure it out.
P.S. I still have your CDs sitting here. I'll try to mail them out next week!
