leighblack: (Riley - Big Ears)
Okay, so the Weird Al show was totally MADE OF WIN. If I made a list of all the songs I would have wanted him to play, well he played them. All of them. Even "You're Pitiful" which totally made my night. More on the concert tomorrow.

Yes, I got my Sven shirt. Boo to the weather though. For the second year in a row, he had to be at the studio because of the bad weather. Sunday is totally going to be my chance to meet him though. I can feel it! Also, I got a Team Franken 2008 shirt. I want to get away with wearing one of them to work tomorrow, but I'm not sure which one yet.

Unfortunately, my evening was sad too. My mom called to say that something happened to Riley and my dad had to rush him to the vet this morning. He tore a tendon in his good back leg and now he can barely walk. =( The vet set him up with some drugs though and when I called my dad to see what was going on, he said that Ry was doing okay. My dad built a ramp on the front steps for him so he can still go out. Just very slowly. I'm really upset about this. He's my baby. I'm going to go over and hang out with him tomorrow night. I'm worried...well, I'm just worried that this is the beginning of the end and I'm absolutely not ready to face it yet.

Anyhow...note to self. Tomorrow:
look up the dates for the Wicked tour for next year
look into Jersey Boys tickets in Chicago
record the new Houston Calls song from MySpace

Also, [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin and I have decided that we're going to NYC in two years, so we can see Wicked on Broadway! This is a good plan.

That alarm is going to be quite painful when it goes off in about four hours. =/

You know what's fun? Being woken up at 3am, AGAIN, by a terrible storm and losing power, AGAIN, and having to get ready for work by flashlight. AGAIN. Anytime you want to quit this, Mother Nature, that would be okay. Really. I would love to have a night I can sleep all the way through.

I am wearing my Team Franken shirt today. We're supposed to go on some team building thing (to a bar) today, so I wore it for that. But I'm hoping that I can maybe ditch out since I want to go sit with Riley. I actually might try to just get the whole afternoon off. I'll see what my boss says when he gets in.

Ohhhhhhh, today hurts. I think I'm going to give in and go buy a Red Bull.

Also, definitely do NOT read this story, Rory. This is now #1 on my list of ways I do not want to die.

I did leave work early today and went to hang out with Riley. I'm sure he was very confused about why I was holding him so tightly. But he's definitely much better than my mom made it sound. He can walk, just very slowly and with a much worse limp than he already had. His knee is never really going to heal, so it's really a matter of controlling his pain while he gets used to the change. The vet has him on morphine right now with some ideas about what to do in the future. He's such a trooper. He still doesn't whine about it at all, even when you're touching his legs.

Unfortunately, they were able to finally confirm that he does have Cushing's Disease. It's a liver disease that Scotties can get and the treatments for it are pretty aggressive. Weekly vet visits and blood work and meds. We all know Riley would hate it tremendously, so we've decided not to get it treated. He'll be okay for now, but his liver will get worse. But right now, it's just about making him comfortable.

My dad made him a ramp down the steps so he can still get outside without having to use the stairs. Ry is slowly getting used to using it. The bed is going to be a problem because he can't use the steps my dad built for him a while back. Ry got scared during the thunderstorm last night and my dad woke up (kind of a miracle in itself) to Riley whining to get on the bed with him because he couldn't get up there himself.

Also, he's lost almost ten pounds this summer. The vet isn't too concerned about it, but it doesn't sound good. He definitely hasn't been eating as much as he normally does.

Anyhow, enough about that. I don't like thinking about my baby being in pain.

Only three people are going to understand this icon, but they're going to think it's HI-larious.
