sometimes I hate my cow-workers
Dec. 19th, 2006 08:19 amCan I tell you a sad story? Not like sobbing sad, but more a sad commentary on the world.
I keep candy on my desk at work. Not big deal. Lots of people do it. My cow-workers like it and I try to buy things that people mention that they like. My Cube is located by a couple conference rooms, so lots of people stop by and grab something before their meetings. I have to kind of limit how much candy I put out every morning though, because they'll eat anything and everything I put out. My dish is pretty much empty every morning when I get to work.
I kept my candy in the top drawer of my filing cabinet since it was empty and near the table I keep the candy bowl on. (Yeah, I have my own table in my Cube. It's a Super Sized Cube.) I keep all the candy in a big bag so I can just dig an assortment out of it, but I also keep extra bags of candy in there since I tend to buy a lot of it at one time. Once all the Tootsie Rolls are gone from my assortment bag, I'll open another bag and toss them in. Some people knew the candy was in there because occasionally they'd ask if I had any caramels or something left and I'd dig into the drawer to see. I didn't have a problem with that or anything.
But, I noticed that I would get out my candy bag in the morning and not have as much candy as I thought I had. The topper was a couple weeks ago. I knew that I had at least half a dozen Peanut Butter Cups w/ caramel left and they were all gone. Someone went into MY drawer and took them! And then they weren't satisfied with that. They also ripped open a big bag of Chewy Sweetarts that I had sitting in there and spilled almost the entire bag in the drawer. Really? I mean, really?? How fucking rude is that? I couldn't possibly imagine doing that to anyone here! I don't even like borrowing a pen from someone's desk to write them a note if they're gone.
So now I moved the candy into my cabinet and I lock it every night. Yes, I LOCK my candy up at night. How pathetic is that? And I noticed this morning that the drawer where the candy was kept before was opened a little bit, so someone had again gone in there looking for candy. Seriously, it makes me want to just stop buying candy. I hardly eat any of it anyways.
Depressing, huh?

Date: 2006-12-19 10:33 pm (UTC)I have a suggestion, how about coconut covered black licorice? or those disgusting PB chews that you get when trick or treating?! its like PB taffy only icky.
I do like the note idea as well, wish I thought of it!
Good luck and maybe it'll stop your piggy cow-workers.
