I loved reading the story about your trip to Nashville. I've seen DD a few times, and they've always put on a great show. I've gone to Nashville a few times when my friend Dan had bands he was managing playing there. Now with kids, my husband and I don't get to do much hanging out anymore, except with our local artsy, musician friends here at home. Although, in the past Dan has gotten us into some really good shows, like 10,000 Maniacs in Atlanta, where Michael Stipe showed up onstage and sang a song.

I met DD back in 1987. Nick was standoffish, John was on who knows what, but Simon was really nice, quite personable. John is my favorite, but I have a thing for bass players. When we told John that we'd driven from Birmingham to Atlanta to see them, he looked confused and said,"Birmingham, England?" Yeah John, we drove all the way across the Atlantic Ocean just to see Duran Duran. *eye roll* Just shut up, John, and fuck me. Don't talk, you'll ruin it for me baby. Eraser was opening for them, and we sat down with them and talked with them while we ate supper with them backstage.

Sadly, the last two concerts we've seen were Weird Al Yankovic. He puts on a great show, and he usually signs autographs afterward. The last time we took our older son Ian, who was 6 at the time, because he loves to watch Weird Al's videos.

I meant Erasure, not Eraser. *sigh* spell-check doesn't catch everything.

Man, that trip lives on in infamy. It was quite a lot of fun! I drove down to Kansas City the next weekend to see them again, but that trip (http://leighblack.livejournal.com/236685.html) was much more sober. I didn't get to meet DD then either though. They were really strict about their passes. Bastards.

I totally love Weird Al! I saw him way back in '87 when he opened for The Monkees.
