Will someone PLEASE make them stop playing the fucking "Dust in the Wind" commercial?!? It's invaded my brain and it needs to stop. NOW.

I know I said I'd get my KC recap done this weekend, but I decided to save it for tomorrow so I have something to do at work. Don't worry, it will get done. Promise! Instead, I've spend a good part of my weekend cleaning my apartment, since we're having inspections this week. I have a feeling my mother might be doing them and don't feel like having that conversation again (you know, the "you live in a pigsty" one), so I put a little effort into cleaning the bathroom, kitchen and living room. They're not perfect, but they will do.

I also managed to post some new screencaps to Crossing Nigel. My wrist still feels okay, so I'm going to try to get at least one more CJ episode done this week. I need to get things updated before I start rate entry at work in the next couple months, because that will completely kill my wrist.

I've also been reading, which isn't something haven't I've put a lot of effort into lately. I read the third Sookie Stackhouse book, Club Dead, yesterday. Everyone tells me that I'll love this series, but I don't think I'm feeling it. I liked this one better than the first two, but I can't say I've been in love with any of them. I'll keep trying though, because that's the kind of person I am. I decided to read something I might really like, and FINALLY started Kim Harrison's Dead Witch Walking. I'm not very far, but I already like it alot. I picked up her thrird book and the new Sherrilyn Kenyon book at the grocery store yesterday, even though the last thing I need is new books. I have SO many sitting here that I want to read! I'm thinking of taking a bunch of vacation days this month, because I have to take them soon, and maybe I'll just lie around and read.

Not much else to report. It's been quiet around here!

All we are is dust in the wind, ohh
Now, don't hang on...
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away ...

Uh....

All we are is dust in the wind
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the moment's gone ...

Okay, that's all I can remember. Thought I'd start your day off right! :0)

Oh yeah...regarding reading. (I promise not to implant annoying song lyrics in your head this time).

I'm not a huge fan of the Southern Vampire series, though everyone assured me I would be. They're *okay*. They have some elements I don't really like, but I still buy them. (Sometimes even in hardback. Kinda like I still buy LKH in hardback, then bitch about the book for two weeks afterward. I don't know why I spend the money, I just do.)

I'm sure you've heard me rave about Kim Harrison. That series is GOOD. Each book just gets progressively better. (Well, I think they do, anyway.)

Not like you need to add to your TBR pile or anything, but the Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine is excellent.

I still haven't picked A Stroke of Midnight up from my shelf. Really, I'm going to read it soon. I just need to psyche myself up for it.

I'm really liking Kim Harrison. Have you read the Kelley Armstrong books? She has a blurb on KH's cover, and I know I have a couple of her books, but I haven't read any of them yet. That might be my next series to read.

Rachel Caine? Hmmmm...I think I've heard of her. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Kelly Armstrong...yes. I'm reading her out of order, (the Otherworld series), but I've been liking her so far.

More books

Oh, yes, the Kim Harrison books are EXCELLENT. Each one gets better and better.

If you like hers, you might also enjoy Laura Anne Gilman's series...Staying Dead is the first one.

The werewolf series by Lori Handeland (I picked up Dark Moon, which was the 3rd, and I believe the others are Hunter's Moon and Blue Moon) is also very good.

And I've been told I need to start reading LA Banks, who is apparently a fast-rising vampire writer. She has a web site that includes all the "and then..." stuff to bridge between her books, covering her characters normal daily activities.

Oooh! I haven't heard of Laura Anna Gilman. I'll check her out.

I have the first Lori Handeland book. I find myself not into werewolves as much as vamps though, but maybe I'll read it soon.

I have all of the LA Banks books, but I've only read the first one. It was really good. A different take on the vamp mythos, which I always enjoy.

Thanks for the recs!
