Not that I really want to get into a debate over this or anything, but I walked over to talk to my mom yesterday, looked at her and said "Unplug me. Please. I want there to be no confusion about this." I don't understand how the whole Schiavo case got to this point. It's a real shame, because you feel for both sides. But a pox upon the government officials who are using the case to make themselves look better.

Everyone seems to be miserable lately. Or sick. Or broke. Or some combination of those. I almost feel guilty for being in a fine spot in life. My biggest complaint right now is that my hair is still blah and I really need to get it fixed. So, big hugs to everyone. I'm thinking of you all.

Esp gross since Bush signed legislation in Texas that would allow hospitals to whack patients whose families couldn't afford to care for them.

I guess life only matters when you're rich.

Or you're a fetus. Or you're not an innocent Iraqi citizen.

Has the media mentioned that the Mr. gets $1.4 mill when she's dead.....if they are still married?

Yes, they're still married and yes, the money has been mentioned. But...it just doesn't seem like it's about money.

Hey - Sammi here. I just added you, btw.

Another lawyer, completely unrelated to the case (he's actually representing one of the asshats involved in the Pistons brawl), was saying that the type of policy that was on her life actually has already paid out most of that money already to the nursing home and hospitals for her care. Also, he's been offered great sums of money to just back off. So, it's not the money.

I talked to my dad tonight and said the same thing (my mom died when I was small). I didn't feel very confident that he would carry it out though. Damn Catholics. =\

Psst... Frog... he doesn't get all that money... most of it went to pay for her care (and the legal bills) and I *think* the just gave him like $300k for "loss of companionship" all those years ago.

But yeah... it does bring it up. I recall conversations with my dad that went something like "So, Bill... if it came down to you being in a hospital on life support and unable to live without it, who would you want to pull the pl....." "VICKIE! She gets that decison".

And, we all had a giggle that he did have that in his will... I was the one to make that decision because he knew I'd be the only one with the balls to do it.
