I don't really know how to answer this one. It's not something I think about. I'd rather people have a party to celebrate life than a funeral, you know? But this song seems fitting:

pearl jam was such a formative band for me. they pretty much defined a big chunk of my adolescence. i never liked release much but i remember my friend sanja and i would go up on her rooftop at night and light candles and put indifference on repeat and we'd just lie there and smoke cigarettes and it felt like some sort of meditative, transcendent thing.

also thanks for remining me to watch runway! i am not happy with this season. i feel so bad for michael c. everyone else is SO mean and terrible esp gretchen with her perma frowny face and annoying attitude.

oh gods, me too. I went right from hair metal to Pearl Jam. idk. I totally remember going down to the record store at midnight to buy Vs. and how everyone in school was jealous that I had it already.

after pretty much every episode of PR, I declare that I'm never watching it again because the judging is so terrible this season. and then I watch it the next week anyways. I only like a couple designers this season and really it's just about Tim Gunn now, I guess.

in junior high i was really into metal. not so much the glam but more metallica type stuff. circus and hit parader mags. then headbangers ball went the way of 120 minutes and somehow there was also a hair metal phase. i cant remember which came first. but i have strong memories of being the girl in the tight black jeans with the notebook that had all the metal bands written on it cuz i was trying to impress these two older girls who were smoking in the girls room and wearing prong shirts.

and then i also remember wearing spandex shorts with a big shirt and belt. doing our hair all big and putting on fuck me dead red lipstick while rocking out to skid row, getting ready to go down to the park and flirt with boys.

and then somehow in high school punk and riot grrl gave way to the grunge thing. never nirvana. always just pearl jam and mother love bone, green river, that gang.
all the b-sides and driving to philly to score bootleg tapes of their oveseas concerts.

and mixed in was also the whole industrial goth thing. backstage with manson and TKK and such.

ah to be young, she says wistfully...and to the girl who still goes on tour pretty much every week :p

ha ha. well, I don't really go on tour anymore. I just go to a lot of shows here now. can't really escape from work as much as I used to, which kind of sucks.

oh man, I loved Nirvana (well, still do) and Hole and Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains and L7...basically, I was all over the board. pretty much like I always am. =)

also WTF to the runway judges! at the end of every episode there is a lil blurb about how producers can pick who wins and make changes based on ratings or whatnot. so i think that is playing a big part this season. :(
