This door is alarmed...
Jun. 21st, 2004 12:58 pmIt's been rather quiet the past few days. This summer is just so weird compared to last summer, when I was constantly running around to different states. I really have nothing planned until my trip to New York next month. (41 days 'til Hugh Jackman!! not that I'm counting...)
After the excitment of Prince last Wed night, I spent most of Thursday night sleeping. I really hate being sick. I need to be doing things, not flat on my back. I made it to work on Friday, but ended up leaving job #2 early. I just couldn't do it anymore and I managed to finish all my work before I left. I went home and crashed out in front of the TV. I bought a bunch of cheap DVDs at Wal-Mart that had videos on them (including "Bathroom Wall" and "Mountain Song") and I watched those for a while. I ended up fast asleep before 10pm and didn't get out of bed until around noon on Sat. It's amazing what 14 hours of sleep can do for you! I felt SO much better!!
I had a couple wacko dreams though. I guess NyQuil will do that to you. In the first one, I had two best friends, a guy and a girl. We all lived in a small town. The girl had gotten pregnant, and even though it wasn't his baby and they weren't in love, the guy was going to marry the girl to give her baby a father. But, he and I were secretly in love with each other, although we had never admitted it to each other. So, I was helping my friend get ready for the wedding, and she finally said that she couldn't go through with it since she was the wrong bride. I pulled out the wedding dress I was apparently carrying with me, and took her place in the wedding. It shocked everyone in the small town who had come out for the wedding, but my husband & I couldn't have been happier. Odd, very very odd.
Then, I had another dream that I was in LA. We were driving to some way out of the way tiny bar where Chad was having a jam night. While he was yammering between songs, I shouted out "Do you want some Jager?" He stopped talking and looked shocked, then said something like "I haven't heard that voice in a long time." He looked around the bar for me, then got off the stage a came over. You know, in the middle of a set. He gave me a big hug and a kiss and told me he loved me. I was just like "what?" Then he started taking off all of his jewelry and most of his clothing and stuff and was handing it all to me to hold. It was too much for me to hold, so I just started putting it on myself. Then the bar owner came out and started yelling at him for ruining the show and to get back on stage. I woke up sometime after that. I swear, I have the oddest dreams. I almost never dream about people I actually know, so it was weird to dream about Chad. I miss that little fucker!
When I finally got mobile on Sat, I made myself get up and out of the house for a while. I went over to my parent's to burn some stuff I had downloaded onto their computer, then to the grocery store to get food for Sunday night. I also took a little voyage to Shinder's, which is a magazine/hobby shop/local geek hangout. I love going there, because they have lots of toys. I LOVE toys! I also get a little creeped out because I don't really think they see a lot of chicks in there. I totally forgot I was wearing a cleavage-riffic shirt and ended up getting a lot of stares. whatever... I picked up the new issue of ToyFare, a comic book or two and managed to avoid looking too longingly at the toys.
When I got home, I finally, finally, finally got to work on
glammastar's mini-movie icons. I think they turned out pretty nicely and judging from her reaction, I'd say I was right. I found some killer new PSP brushes this weekend, and used a couple on her icons. One day, I'm actually going to work on some new icons for myself. I've done a couple here and there, but nothing I've really worked hard on. I have a bunch of ideas, not to mention clips and screencaps, I just haven't had time. Maybe that will be next weekend's project. Actually, cleaning my apartment is next weekend's project, since it really needs it. But I don't think it'll take all weekend. I should have some time to fufill my computer geekiness!
Sunday morning, I rolled out of bed and sort of got ready for the day. I have a hard time making my brain work before noon on Sundays. At least I was feeling almost like my normal self. Goodbye stupid cold! We were planning a day of mini-golf (an idea wholly stolen from
wonderfungus) and grilling. Funny how things never really turn out as planned. I had this fabulous idea that we'd all go to the Walker Art Center to play their mini-golf course. It's supposed to be really cool, as each hole is designed by a different artist. Well, by the time we collected everyone together at
taylorea's house, gave up on Jamie showing up, drove out to Minneapolis, picked up my sister and got over to the Walker, it was just about 4pm. I knew they cut off the golfing at 4pm, so I was a little miffed that we had gotten there so late. Then when we got there, we found out that there was a list (with "tee-times"??) and we were way too late to get on it. sigh... There went my wish to play mini-golf.
Instead, we kind of wandered around the Walker for a while. I don't think I've ever been there before. You know how you never experience the sites in your own town? Yeah, that's me. I rarely get out and do anything around here.

Eventually, people petered out and we ended up collapsed all over this bench/stage thing. I did a little tap dance. Thankfully, there's no photos of that.

We didn't move from that spot for quite a while. Someone decided that the wood smelled good and a good amount of time was spent smelling it. I managed to resist. It wasn't hard.

We also became engrossed in watching a little mouse wander around in the grass. Eventually, we decided to leave. We will make it back soon though and we WILL play mini-golf!

I can't resist bad grammar
Our group broke apart, and Bren, Mandrew & I went back to grill us some brats. Mmmm...tasty! Obviously, my stomach has shrunk because even though I hadn't eaten anything all day, I couldn't finish a 2nd brat. We watched a movie made by our friend at B&N called Ladies and Gentlemen, Please Welcome.... It's a short documentary on how bands got their names. He got a very interesting collection of people for it! Then we settled in to watch Salem's Lot on TNT. That is one of my least favorite vampire books and the original movie is horrible. The remake didn't have much to interest me either (Rob Lowe? ugh), except that Andre Baugher from Homicide: Life on the Street is in it. So, I decided that I had to see it. Eh, it was okay. It wasn't scary, except for the creepy guy trying to molest his daughter. Part 2 is on tonight, which I won't be able to see since I'll be at work. That's what videotapes are for. During the movie, I made a highly excellent dessert, with fruit, yogurt and molassess cookies. By then, I was completely stuffed.
I went home soon after the movie was over and finally started reading the book for our book group. Which is on Tuesday night. Oops. And it's a book that I recommended (Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson), so that's even worse. But I've already read it twice, with the first time being when
cyberwuzzle gave it to me in ebook form (thanks again!), so I'm not that worried. I'm almost halfway through already and I have all the way until 6:30pm tomorrow night. Piece of cake! The hard part is going to be thinking up some discussion questions, but I'm sure I'll think of something.
