my poor baby

I know I'm supposed to be editing my New Year's photos, but I spent most of the evening cuddling my poor dog instead. Believe me, he's much more important.



Riley wants to be cuddled and rocked in the chair all the time now. So unlike his normal stubborn self. It's because he doesn't feel very good.


This is what Riley looked like a couple summers ago. Big and fat and happy.


This is what he looks like now. He's lost about 15 pounds and his rib cage sticks out and his stomach has shrunk severely. My poor baby. =(


I can't get him to stay still for photos very often, so I just want to show this one off.

You know, it's much easier to do Project 365 if you know where your camera is. I used my mom's crappy one today, but I NEED to find mine. I assume it's buried in the debris from Christmas.

It's hard. But I'm ready to put him down. He doesn't seem to be in pain, but he's not happy or eating right or wagging his tail or barking. None of the things he was still doing even a few weeks ago. But my dad refuses to even think about it yet. =/

Our family pup, a Bichon, is going through a similar situation. He is very skinny (very unlike him) and will only eat "people food" now. He's 16 years old, but it doesn't seem like it's been that long. It feels like we got him just a few days ago. I treasure every moment with him when I visit my parents. :\ Hugs to you and your adorable puppy.

Yeah, I'm trying to get over to see him at least twice a week. I'm just worried about whether or not he's actually comfortable since he's really too stoic to complain.

I'm so sorry, Leigh. I know how hard it is w/pets when they get older and it becomes that time. I had my beagle for 14 years and it broke my heart in a million pieces when it was her time. :*(
