I had a lot of fun this weekend. Okay, not as much as [livejournal.com profile] rockerlee, but it was still fun.

Saturday I hung out with my family for a while. My little bro was home from school for the day, my dad helped me with my taxes and my mom was just babbling at me. I then spent the night working on my quest to go through all of my magazines and throw out all most of them. Yeah, yeah. Sat night at home isn't exciting. Well, I'm broke, so cheap thrills are all I have right now. I managed to finish all but one box of magazines, so I was pretty proud of myself.

Sunday morning, I woke up early so I'd have time to clean my apartment before my friends stopped by. Early & Sunday do not mix well for me. Everyone actually showed up early, which has to be a first. I was even still getting dressed when [livejournal.com profile] taylorea and Mandrew arrived. Do you know how hard it is to find that one pair of wool socks that you never wear?? :(

We gathered everyone together, bundled up and headed down to Hastings to go snow tubing. For those who have not experienced this winter pleasure, essentially you hurtle yourself down a steep hill on a rubber tube. Then a nice tow rope takes you back up the hill and you do it again. This is mainly an activity for teenagers and young children. The average age in our group = 28.5 years.

Getting a tow up the hill.

This particular tubing place was one that we hadn't gone to before. and we probably won't be going back. The fun part about tubing is crashing into each other and trying to injure your friends. But apparently we went to a Communist snow tubing hill and there was none of that allowed. You couldn't all hook together and go down the hill in a big group and you had to wait until the person before you was all the way down the hill before going down yourself. Where's the fun in that?!? Then there was the issue of having a lot of people there and only one tubing hill open. We spent a LOT of time standing in line, until they finally opened the second hill. Things got better after that and we ended up having a lot of fun.

At the bottom of the hill, they had big bags filled with styrofoam to cushion your stop and to make sure people didn't fly into the road. Our goal became trying to crash into the bean bags on every run, until one of the tubing "security" guys told us that they weren't really bean bags since they didn't have beans. They call them sausages around there. Of course, being as how we're all twelve, this made us all giggle. After that, the object was to hit the sausage. And to make sure that you were wet enough when you did. (Did I mention that it was raining most of the time we were there? Not snowing, raining. That kind of sucked.)

Eventually, we got tired and headed back to my place. We picked up pizzas (which burned in my oven) and soda. Everyone crashed around my living room and we watched Pirates of the Caribbean. Pretty much everyone fell asleep at some point. I finally kicked people out and then power lounged for the rest of the night. It was good!

A fearsome group, indeed
