This and that
Dec. 26th, 2005 09:48 pmI've managed to survive the holidays! It was good to see my family, and to be able to spend time with
wonderfungus while he's in town. Since it seems to be the thing...
My list of gifts
$65 in Best Buy gift cards
$65 in cash
A $50 Cub Food gift card (yay! groceries!)
A $15 Target gift card from work
A year of paid lj time (thanks to Bella)
Vanilla ice cream, sparkling apple cider & spoons for apple cider floats
A framed Rent movie poster (thanks again,
dazeebean!)
The ugliest purse in the world, which I already returned
Two anti-Dubya magnets
A Bath & Body works gift stocking with Moonlight Path lotion, body spray & shower gel
The previously mentioned Office Space Best Buy special edition
250G external hard drive *hugs* (it still needs a name though)
In a show of my terrific will power, I spent the Best Buy gift cards for Season 7 of Homicide: Life on the Street today. I also spent the Cub Food card, and the cash is pretty much gone too. =/
My fridge smells like left over lebanese food every time I open it. It's heaven! I should make a potpourri with minced onions, garlic powder and cumin and leave it in my kitchen. My uncle left the raw kibbe for my brother (that's raw double ground lamb, soaked cracked wheat, mint and other spices - I don't recommend it if you're not used to eating it), but I stole half of it from my parents house tonight and am now beyond happily munching on it. Hey, it can't stay left over very long & DJ wouldn't be able to eat it all. Yeeeeeeah, that's the ticket.
Brokeback Mountain was AMAZING last night! I totally loved it!! Of course, the hawt love scene would have been better if the row of girls behind us hadn't been giggling. Grrrr...I hate going to the theater sometimes. I won't go on and on about the movie, but everyone should really see it. Heath Ledger definitely deserves some awards. Though, can someone explain to me what the hell Randy Quaid was doing in it? =/ Bella, really - we should go see it this week.
Remember how I was counting down my last days at Hallmark? Well, forget about that because I agreed to stay on. But I'm only working one or two nights a week, and a couple Saturdays a month. And we're only open until 5pm on the weekends. So, really, it's not so bad. It's a really easy job & if I'm good and save my money, I'll have my Wicked tickets paid for pretty quickly. And I'll have money for this summer. It could be worse. Tonight, I got bullied into helping de-Christmas the store. I kind of wish someone (re: my mother) would have told me ahead of time though, so I wasn't dressed in a warm sweater and beige pants. I was sweaty and dirty by the end. Oh joy.
I've decided that my paycheck next week is going towards a new tattoo. I haven't gotten one for quite a while, so I'm due. I'm going to get something written in Arabic on my right shoulder. I just don't know what I want it to say yet. I'm thinking maybe my mother's family name, or the name of the village my grandfather grew up in. I think I'll also finally get Firefly on DVD with that check.
And, that's about it for right now. I'm off work again tomorrow, and my cousin's 40th birthday party is tomorrow night. I'm trying to convince my mom to go so we can get her drunk. That's always entertaining!
YAY! Holiday was just on the news again!! We really need to go see them soon.

Date: 2005-12-27 10:08 pm (UTC)Thankfully I saw Brokeback on opening night in DC in a theatre full of gay guys and a few lesbians and/or supportive fag hags. :) Everyone knew what they were in for.
