leighblack: (Nigel/Bug - Beautiful Disaster)

Things are afoot again at the day job. I was told some hush-hush confidential info, but the end result is that I'll be helping out in another department for a while. I have to go to some 2 1/2 day training session next week, but otherwise it's not a big deal. And the words "some type of bonus will be involved" were uttered. ;) So, that's cool. Again, they're trying to get me to join that department permanently, but I don't want to leave what I'm doing. I like it here and I like my boss. That's hard to find.

This was my second time in two days of being pulled aside for a discussion. [livejournal.com profile] duckduck, I totally got pulled into the bossman's office for a talk about the whole manga table thing. I think he was lying in wait for me to show up last night. sigh... I knew it was going to happen, but it ended up being okay. Paul & I had a very interesting conversation. I'm not sure that he has much confidence in my so-called supervisor, because Paul will be doing my review from now on. And he told me about how he sees what it is I do, and he thinks I do a really great job. Which is strange, because I never work with him, but he must talk to those who actually know what's going on. He also told me he thinks I'm the most accurate person in receiving right now. Hmmm, you would think you'd want the person in charge to be the most accurate, wouldn't you?? But, the conversation was good. I'm still confused about what Kendra actually told him, but he said it was fine. I think I may actually be able to bring up some of the things that are going on in receiving so he can talk to Jason. In baby steps.

That whole last paragraph made no sense to any of the rest of you. I know that.

I've totally been pondering this: Why is Max the only person on Crossing Jordan with a Boston accent? Okay, I get Nigel, Bug & Woody. Forget them. But no one else? No other morgue people, no cops, no lawyers, not even victim's families?? No one?!? It doesn't seem right.

Oh, to everyone I'm going to see this weekend: Do I need to bring anything with me? Did I promise you something and forget to send it to you? Foxy, didn't I promise you Nikki Sixx photos like a bazillion years ago? Ugh! I'll bring them with and you can pick out what you want. Anything else? Any other photos you want to look at? My scrapbook? Do I need to bring a blanket? Towels? Food? I've already got the Red Bull to go with the Jager bottle Nicole has for me. (Put that in the freezer for me, would ya, doll? Thanks! =)) Anything else? Speak up now or it ain't coming with me.

Two more days 'til ROAD TRIP!!!! Yaaaaaaaaay!!

Helping out in another dept for a while... I know you work at the bookstore, but what's your day job? And training? Oy vey. Well, at least it's something you can put on your resume, right? And the 'some type of bonus' sounds good, too. But trying to get you to leave your current spot is a little 'i-don't-know'. I know you like your boss and such now, but since you'll be helping out with these other people, maybe you'll like them, too. If that's the case, I would choose based on how much money you'll be making. If it's a similar environment with better pay... woo hoo. (But then again, that's just the part of me that wishes she had more money talking.)

Manga table thing?

And he told me about how he sees what it is I do, and he thinks I do a really great job. Which is strange, because I never work with him

Ha ha. Yeah, he must talk to those who actually know what's going on. I don't like people who just blow hot air. It's like, "I really like what you're doing." And the reality of it is, "You've never seen what I've done so what made you say that?"

you would think you'd want the person in charge to be the most accurate, wouldn't you??

Hope to gawd so. :)

In baby steps.

Random tangent... that comment just made me think of "Muppets From Space" and the Bear security guard. "Baby steps, sir, baby steps."

Why is Max the only person on Crossing Jordan with a Boston accent?

Perhaps it's because he's a native? I don't know really. I mean, Nigel's British, Bug's Indian of some sort, Woody's your all American white guy. Is that Russian guy still on... I think he played Peter (Actor Ivan Sergei or something like that.)

I would say that Lily is slightly Boston-y. I mean, out of everyone else that isn't OBVIOUSLY from someplace else, she seems to sound like she could be from that area. And Macy is so cool, he doesn't need to sound like he's from Boston. He can pull off the whole Sean Connery thing where he should be the character that he is, but he pulls it off sounding like him... never changing his voice/accent.

Gawd, I miss cable, and I love that show. And it's not even available on DVD yet. [shakes fist toward the heavens]

I do computer stuff. It's hard to explain. Really, it's just glorified data entry. I do a lot of work in our database too. Technically, I'm the Security Access Administrator for the Shared Services team. I get pulled in to help out a bunch of different departments though.

But trying to get you to leave your current spot is a little 'i-don't-know'. I know you like your boss and such now, but since you'll be helping out with these other people, maybe you'll like them, too. Nope, I don't like it over there. My job is cool, I'm left alone to do my thing most of the time. No insane deadlines, no real pressure, no bringing crap home with me. My teammates are nice for the most part and I love my boss. Over in financial, it's pretty much the opposite of that. Even if they paid me a little more, it wouldn't be worth the hassle.

Manga table thing?
Eh, I don't even wanna get started on that. Our store manager wanted me to put a table together the other day. I was like why me? I don't work on the floor. Can't someone else do it? I have receiving that needs to get done. And, of course, that got taken as having attitude or some crap. It's cool now.

Random tangent... that comment just made me think of "Muppets From Space" and the Bear security guard. "Baby steps, sir, baby steps."
Ahhhhh, but the baby steps line is really from What About Bob?.

I'm fine with Garret not having a Boston accent, because he's like way too cool for that. But NO ONE else but Max? On a show set in Boston?? That's just not right.

Oh, and no, Peter is not on anymore. He just kind of disappeared.

It will be on DVD someday. Be patient. Or, do like I did, and find someone who will let you borrow their copies to burn onto DVDs.

Me: Random tangent... that comment just made me think of "Muppets From Space" and the Bear security guard. "Baby steps, sir, baby steps."
You: Ahhhhh, but the baby steps line is really from What About Bob?.
Me: Really? (thinks back) It has been SO long since I've seen that movie. When I think about that movie, the first thing that comes to mind is Bill Murray eating corn. That and the whole, "I'm a schitzophrenic... and so am I."

Garret is cool. I'm used to him playing bad guys in movies. He's just so awesome in the show. But I really wanted him to be with Lily. Then he goes off and starts sleeping with his ex-wife. (I'm not sure how all that happened.) Then he starts in with the DA (nonononononononono...!). And from the eps I've been able to catch, it looks like they're setting perhaps Lily up with Bug?

Oh, and no, Peter is not on anymore. He just kind of disappeared.
What the-?! How coul he just disappear?
The place I lived at before I moved in with my current roommate had cable but only in the two main bedrooms, not the living room. So I had to beg BF to let me watch the show. There were nights where he'd say no, and I'd ask him to tape it for me. Now, after not watching it for so long, I went to my mom's for the holidays (stayed for like a week) and there was like a Crossing Jordan marathon, and his character was actually getting really interesting. (And what's up with the Woody/Jordan thing? It looked like before that they were setting that up to be a potential love thing.

And when the hell are we going to find out what happened to Jordan's mom? I mean, we already know that she was murdered and that she cheated on Jordan's dad, but come on!!! I just hope it's not like The Profiler... on that show, after they finally caught the guy who'd been hasseling her all that time, she left the show and they replaced her, but the show was never the same. I'm not saying that Jill's going to leave the show, but that's a main reason I'm hooked. I WANNA KNOW!!!

Okay, I'm done rambling about Crossing Jordan. :D

Dude, I am SO looking forward to this! I made 4 new mp3 Cds that should get me all the way there & back. I've got my mini-cooler with Red Bull and Vanilla Coke. I just need to do laundry and pack, and I'll be set!

Oh, and I need to figure out what I want to wear. I think I need to dig out the "Jager Bitch" shirt. ;)

We COULD claim that Jordan doesn't have a Boston accent because she moved around a lot after college and, thusly, might not have developed that accent... And Lily isn't from Boston originally, either.... But a lot of the people should have accents. It's always bothered me that Max does have such an accent and no one else does.

Yeah, but your accent is set by the time you're 13. You're not just going to suddenly lose it like that, unless you work at it.

Yeah, that is true. Though, if she spent enough time away from Boston, and was enough of an accent chameleon (my accent changes a lot when I travel)...

But then again, if she was a chameleon, her accent would have come back... GAH! My mind wants to explode, now!

I have blankies, but you'll need your own pillow. BTW, will you be eating on the way, or should I be planning dinner for when you get here?

Pillow - check!

Ummm, I would say plan for dinner, because I tend to forget to eat when I'm driving.

Groovey. Anything that will make you run screaming for the house if I make it? No irrational fear of chicken or mushrooms? Most things I cook tend to contain chicken and mushrooms for some reason...

The only thing I don't eat is fish. Yeech! Chicken & 'shrooms will be fine.

Oh, and I might end up being a little later than I thought 'cause there's 'posed to be a snow storm tomorrow morning. I'll call if it's going to be ridiculously late, but I doubt that.
