Tom Cruise is certifiably insane

In other news: it's Friday!! And I get to leave this place in 45 mins. And then I'm going to raid my parent's freezer because I'm b-r-o-k-e and hungry. Why couldn't the weeks when I lost my appetite have been when I have no money? =(

man, I want the number of his dealer :P

*doesn't believe in the whole trigger-happy "OMFG DRUG THEM!!" culture ripping up over the normal human fact that sometimes we feel like SHITE, but does acknowledge that sometimes there's misprogramming in the brain that needs a chemical rewrite*

I'm completely against the practice of drugging kids with Ritalin because that's easier than determining their problems. But that doesn't mean that some kids don't benefit from it. Same with other drugs.

And I'm not whackbag enough to claim that I know better than, you know, a doctor.

I read up a bit on psychology...it's actually rather scary how hit-and-miss it is. Things that were 'diagnosed' as mental problems turning out to be things like allergic reactions, or just normal human moodiness.

Take me for instance - if I went to a psychologist during a certain time of the year, I'd be diagnosed as bipolar or some shit. Except...I'm not.

I don't PMS every month. I do it once a year. And it's a whopper (I get the usual warning signs like cramps, but apart from that, I don't change emotionally at all during that time of the month)

But once a year? oooh man, I make up for the other 11 months in SPADES. And it's just the way my hormones cycle. It's not an brain disorder, or any other "problem",it's purely the hormonal cycle saving up and letting rip with a years worth of emotional affects at once.

There's a TMI for you!

People are expecting children to act like adults. To sit still. to *think* before they act. And if they don't, out comes the magical bottle of pills to redesign them in someone's image.

WTF? they're kids. kids are STUPID, they do fucking STUPID things. What the hell do you expect? We're not a stepford breed fer chrissakes! Let them be kids!

And try parenting the little shits! Of course they're going to act up if you can't even be bothered setting boundaries. Ever read Lord of the Flies?

/end rant :P

You can say that about a lot of medicine, not just psychology. It wasn't all that long ago where bleeding people with leeches was a prefectly acceptable practice for just about every ailment.

Or giving women medical orgasms for tension relief.

Actually, they can bring that one back. ;)

Tom's a scientologist?

Somehow, that explains a lot. *sigh*

[identity profile] leighblack.livejournal.com 2005-06-24 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that like sarcasm? Because I can't believe that there's any possible way you didn't know that.

[identity profile] amazonqueenkate.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Truth is, I didn't know that. At all.

^_^; I'm not exactly a Tom Cruise fan, and I guess I always missed that bit of information.

[identity profile] leighblack.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
He's pretty much their biggest fanatic. It's everywhere! Especially since he's off his rocker now and won't shut up about it.

[identity profile] amazonqueenkate.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
And I somehow missed that.

Though I did not miss that Katie Holmes is converting/thinking about converting. I just didn't realize that HE was why.

Sigh. (The only scientologist I've ever met told me flat-out that she thinks less of people who drink. About half a minute after I ordered a margarita. That was fun.)

[identity profile] leighblack.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. One would assume that Katie's conversion is part of their contract. He even hired a Scientologist "handler" for her.

The rumor going around is that when Scarlett Johannsen was offered M:I 3, it was at the Scientology center with some of the very very higher ups in the org. Like her acceptance of the role would be an acceptance of Scientology. She got smart and ran.

[identity profile] amazonqueenkate.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
...that's just creepy. Like, quite. Especially with the acceptence of the role = accepting scientology. Sheesh.

Tom Cruise is slipping off the "celebrities I am fond of" list with all this new business. Tear.

[identity profile] dazeebean.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I have never been nor will be ever a Tom Cruise fan.

I gotta say though even though this is a somewhat serious topic of coversation, if you just read Matt Lauer's parts in the interview, it's rather a little bit funny (IMO) with him trying to get a word in...SHUT UP TOM! Geez.

[identity profile] vertical-chaos.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Is is wrong to hope that (God forbid) if they have kids, Katie has massive post-partum depression and medication is the only way to make her better?

[identity profile] leighblack.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggle*
I don't think it's wrong to hope for that at all. =)

[identity profile] vertical-chaos.livejournal.com 2005-06-25 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I would just love to see him have to eat crow. I mean,Katie's not bad...just apparently possessed right now. But to have to have her helped with medication and then watch him recant... That would rock.
