leighblack: (Stimulator - 78 Stimulator)
Yes, I realize that I still haven't finished my journal entries from LA or done the one for my Des Moines weekend. Hush. They'll get done eventually. I wanted to write up this one while I still have a small thread of memory about what happened. I apologize that the only photos I have to go along with this post are crappy cell phone pics. I cleaned them up as best I could.

My trip to Nashville to see Duran Duran and Stimulator, or Leigh's hangover is named Chad Stewart )

Annnnnnd...that's about it! KC trip journal coming soon!!
leighblack: (Rent Movie - No Day But Today)

leighblack: (Thomas - My Beautiful Muse)
Someone in the building across from mine obviously has a karaoke machine. It's not pretty. *shudders*

What is pretty is my new Stimulator Mood Theme! I need to change a few of them out, and there's still a couple that I need images for, but it's done for now. It's a little Chad-heavy though, since I used pretty much every Stimulator photo I could, then filled in the rest with random Chaddy photos, since I have a zillion. Thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] rockerlee for letting me steal use her photos!

Now I can finish writing my trip journal from Nashville.

*begging*

Does anyone have Jani Lane's Back Down to One? (Gee, there's a question I never thought I'd ask) Because this CD that Chad gave me, which he did with Keri Kelli, has a lot of the same songs on it, since Keri co-wrote them Jani. I kind of want to hear the differences in the songs, but not enough to pay $5 for it on eBay. If anyone would want to send me a copy though, I'm sure I have something you'd want in exchange.

I'm home!

Wheeeeeee! This weekend was FUN!!! I don't think I could ever possibly thank Thomas enough for what he did for us. Not only did Lee & I get photo passes, but we were in the 8th row, dead center. It was bliss! Stimulator was fabulous and Duran Duran was amazing!! We couldn't have gotten a better location, and I know Thomas had to lie his ass off to get those comps for us. I'm glad I bought him the good socks. ;)

Chad...Well, I could go on and on, but I won't. Let's just say the Chad adoration is probably worse than ever. He was really sweet all night. Unfortunately, they had to leave almost right away to drive to Indy, so we didn't get to hang out very long. Still, I ended up covered in ChadSweat and he made sure to thank me for everything I did over the past week. (read: thanks for bringing me booze) And if you haven't heard, the Faster Pussycat tour has officially been called off. They're planning to go out in the fall with BC. *crosses fingers*

I have more to tell later, of course.

Oh, Lee! Will you mind if I use some of your photos for my layout and a couple icons? I'll give you credit, of course.

Ann, you'll appreciate this phone exchange.
C: So how many people are coming?
Me: Four...oh, and we invited Kate.
C: Oh, fuck you!
Me: *giggles*

I'll leave you with a little wisdom:
Simon LeBon: to the left, and apparently with a sock =)
leighblack: (Stimulator - Group Shot)
How sad is it that I'm completely willing to drive almost 14 hours to Nashville, but I'm way too exhausted to drive 30 mins to see Scum of the Earth tonight? I'm old. I need sleep so I can survive Chad & Thomas this weekend, so I'll probably stay home tonight instead. Plus, I really need to do laundry.

Oh Lee, I'm thinking I'll get there around 10-10:30 tomorrow night. That's okay?

And Sammi, I might not be able to make it out next week after all. =( I may not be able to get off work now, since we're suddenly swamped and so many people will already be out. I'll let you know when I know.
leighblack: (Chad - Band Whore)
YAY for my parents! It's their 30th Anniversary today. And they said that I can have their car for the weekend, so I'll have air conditioning on my long drive through Iowa! Yipee!! I couldn't be happier. Lee, this also means that we can for sure drive my car around town and we won't die from the heat. That's extra incentive for me not to drink at the show. I'll need all the help I can get.

Also, my car stereo came in today, so I once again have a radio/CD Player in my car. I've been without it for 24 days! I've been going nuts!! I blasted Stimulator the whole ride home. Shit, I don't think my parent's CD player plays mp3 CDs. I'll need to make some new CDs for my drive, I guess.

*hugs* to [livejournal.com profile] rockerlee, just because. Can't wait to see you this weekend!

I have this intense urge to change the entire look of my journal. I'm trying to resist, but I'm pretty weak. I know exactly what I want to do, I just need a little free time to do it.

Our book group is tomorrow night. Haven't read the book, haven't gotten a copy of the book, haven't even paged through it. I'm sure I'll be useful in the discussion. At least I know I'm not alone.

And for some entertainment...Not everyone will enjoy this, but guess who showed up on the Faster board today?? Oh yes, our friend Joe )

BTW, if you're bored, go to the Stimulator Message Board and make fun of Chad.

I'm home!

leighblack: (Chad - Green)
FINALLY!! I don't even want to look at my car right now. I'm really, really happy to be out of it. This weekend was really fun! At least, Ann tells me that I had fun. Some of it is pretty blurry. Again, Chad & Thomas are baaaaaad for my health. I'll get it all written up soon. Honest.

If you're going to see Duran Duran in the next week or so, GO EARLY and cheer for Stimulator!! And those DD guys were pretty good too. I'm excited to do it all again next weekend! But with less alcohol. Much, much less.

Oh, and I know you'll all be shocked, but the Faster dates might not happen. Or maybe they will. Or maybe some of them will. Ann, if you happen to talk to my good friend Charles, see if you can get some info out of him. Or tell him to call me or something. Some of us want to know what's going on.

PS. Ann, I'm pretty sure my phone charger is in your bedroom. Just so you know.
leighblack: (Nigel - Adorkable)
I wasn't done messing with my layout. But now I am. at least for the time being - especially since I almost broke it when I was messing with something Look! Now you can send me a text message right from my journal page! Because I am an attention whore at heart.

ETA: Of course, the best part is that when you text me, my ringer is Taime & Chad yelling "Jager! Jager Alert!" =)
leighblack: (Chad - Glowing)
Even when I'm stuck at home on a Saturday night when I'd really rather be out partying with [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus but can't because I'm too broke, my friends are still around to help cheer me up. Thanks girls! *loves*

GIP!
Look how angelic & glowing Chaddy looks! *dreamy sigh*

I was looking through my files today and I really, really have WAY too many random photos of Chad & the other FP guys. I don't even know where most of them came from!
leighblack: (Chad - Chaddy Sixx)
That Faster board amuses me to no end for some reason. It's so dead! I can't believe I have the highest number of posts.

Funny how I mention drunk assholes and Chadly shows up. =) He needs to rag on Muscat some more though, because that stuff's hysterical.
leighblack: (Chad - Green)
Welcome home [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus! Too bad you decided to come home on the hottest day of the year. Though I'm sure you scoff at our heat now that you're a California boy.

Sunburn update: Forehead is still peeling, but it should be done soon. Strangely, my arm and chest, which burned much much worse, seem like they're going to just tan out. I don't understand. But that does mean I'll have a nice base for 4th of July weekend. (or at least part of me will) OMG! I'll be at the cabin this very time next week. *happiness*

Those things I was going to get done yesterday? Yeah...well...I did do laundry and I made a whole one icon. Then I was suddenly overcome with exhaustion and fell asleep around 7pm. I woke up a few times and tried to get myself into the land of the living, but gave up and went to bed a little after 10pm. I suck.

Other than that, not much to report here. I must start reading our book club book, as I have to be done next Wed night. I'm completely broke and can't go out or do anything, so I suppose it won't be that hard to finish it. I WILL get my trip journal entries done by Sat night if it kills me.

Why do people get upset when I ask them to email me something? Here's the scenario, and it happens all the time: Someone calls me and wants me to set up something for them. I admit it, I usually tune out people who babble stuff at me on the phone until I can determine what it is they actually want. Usually, I'll just cut them off and tell them to send me an email with their request. Why? a)So I have the request documented for when I get asked why I did something b)So I can double-check what I'm doing against their written down instructions, rather than against what I remember from the phone call and c)People tend to babble on and on and on about irrelevant things on the phone. If they need to write it out, it's usually much more concise and easier to understand. Right? So you would think that they'd be happy I'm trying to make sure to get their request right. Nope. Usually I get a sigh and it seems like it's the end of the world that I'm asking them to send me a whole email. Whatever. Thank goodness it's almost the weekend. And then I have two three-day work weeks!

I'm upset I missed the Hollywood Rocks show last night. I really need to find a sugar daddy who's willing to buy me plane tickets to anywhere and at any time.

Oh, and if any of you computer wizzes can find me the video for "Magic" by Stimulator, I'll be your BFF!! I guess it was released in Australia, and maybe the UK. Googling "magic stimulator video" gets...well...not exactly the results I'm looking for. I'm guessing I'm going to have to spend some quality time with my parent's cable modem and a P2P network or two. It would all be so much easier if they'd just post it on their website!! I MUST see Chad doing an Olivia Newton-John cover!! grrr...
leighblack: (Steve - oooh shiny!)
I've been using these icons already, either today or over the past week, but I thought I'd collect them all together in one post. Just because.

Also, if you're into that sort of thing, Caps from Steve Valentine's appearance on Married With Children are up.
leighblack: (Chad - Missed You)
Eric Stacy (yes, Eric "formerly of Faster Pussycat" Stacy) has the photo I took of him at the BBJ show last year on his MySpace profile. I'm not sure why this amuses me, but it does. Immensely.

Because I'm bored, how about some old photos? I've been feeling nostalgic this week and going through old files. I miss you guys! *weepy* )
leighblack: (Steve - omg!)
Blackboard Jungle was SO FUCKING AMAZING last night!!!! *fangirl squeal* We had a really great time. Much dancing and singing was to be had. I really think this was their best show so far.

Of course, I was a complete moron and forgot to bring the camera battery that I'd bought and my camera died partway through the night. But that's okay. I think Carly's friend has the picture thing covered. I just enjoyed the show, and getting love from the guys afterwards.

And yes, I was just walking through the bar at one point & someone came up to me and said "Aren't you Leigh?" I tell you, it happens everywhere.

The Faster Pussycat set...well...was kind of a disaster. But I still enjoyed it! I do like the new stuff. Except the stupid "ooh-la-la-la's" during "Boots," which are even worse live. I think I may have been the only person there who knew the words to "Hey You" and that may have included Taime. It was kind of cute how Xristian just shook his head at me when he saw me on stage. And I managed to have a completely coherent 4 minute conversation with Mr. Danny Nordahl.

And, for better or worse, my adoration for a certain individual nicknamed Chubsie has totally been renewed. Even if he was a complete drunken slob after the show. I think he paid more attention to me than he did to his girlfriend, which I guess isn't strange. And, apparently, I'm going to see Duran Duran in Kansas City now, because it's close to me. Me: "That's 8 fucking hours away." Him: "Yeah, close." Hmpf.

I'll have true trip updates when I get home, of course. Right now, I'd better go take a shower since I need to be at the airport soon. I'm going to miss all my old & new LA (and Chicago) friends so much!!! Bye!!
leighblack: (Chad - Fangirl Love)
Since yesterday's post was whiny, today's post will be about (mostly) positive things.

Reasons for Leigh to be happy:
- It's Friday
- It's a three-day weekend
- The new Katie Maxwell (aka [livejournal.com profile] katiemacalister) book was delivered to me yesterday
- My appetite seems to have finally returned
- Steve Valentine's Just Shoot Me episode is on tonight
- The trailer for the Rent movie should be popping up this weekend
- I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin tomorrow for the first time
- Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean, I'm going to see Crash on Sunday
- Even more thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean, I'm getting a massage after the movie
- I have a whopping huge two-day work week next week
- I'll be in LA in six days
- I get to see [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly, [livejournal.com profile] missvn and [livejournal.com profile] wonderfungus next week
- I have enough $$ right now to cover my rent, and that's before I get my paycheck next week, so I'll have plenty of moolah to splurge with in la-la land
- I can actually go shopping this weekend for a new skirt to wear on my trip
- I get to see my Chaddy and my Faster Pussycat babies in 8 days
- I also get to dance & sing like it's 1993 to Blackboard Jungle in 8 days

And, perhaps not so happy for me, but maybe entertaining for you:
I've been letting my go rather au natural, except for the highlights [livejournal.com profile] taylorea put in a while ago. While I like the riotous mess of colors that my hair now has, I'm not so fond of the six gray hairs I plucked out the other night. And those were just from the top of my head! Who knows what's trapped inside that mess?!? *pouts*
leighblack: (Nigel/Jordan - See Right Through Me)
1.) What's your favorite CJ episode? "Revealed," hands down. Because Goth!Nigel is hot. And it really shows off Steve's acting abilities. And I like vampires. ;)

2.) If Nigel wasn't on the show (God forbid), who would your new favorite character in CJ be? Uh. Actually, it would probably be Jordan. I have a strange affinity for her.

3.) Since you go to lots of concerts and such, what's the best concert you've ever seen? Just one??? That's hard. Okay, Poison/Cinderella/Faster Pussycat in South Bend, IN in Aug 2002. Maybe not so much for the show itself, but for everything that surrounded it. Chad (FP's drummer & my eternal crush object) was telling people about how the SB show was going to be special and they should be sure to be there. I was moping on their board that I really wanted to go, and these girls I knew from there who were going suggested that I just do it. Fate surely had it's hand in that! So, I drove out to meet [livejournal.com profile] vampirecarly, who still lived in WI and crashed for the night, then we picked up [livejournal.com profile] xiolablux and [livejournal.com profile] missvn in Chicago and drove off to IN, where we met up with [livejournal.com profile] jawakimchee and her friend. I had never met any of these people before, but I'm so glad that we did it! Especially since that's also where we sort of met [livejournal.com profile] annfromdetroit. We hung out by the buses before the show, where we talked to the guys in the band and stuff. FP went on stage in wedding dresses and played all cover songs. None of their own. We had seats way in the back of the theater, but convinced the ushers to let us go up front. It was so much fun! After the show, we pretty much spent the entire night choking on bus fumes. Every once in a while, we'd go inside to see a little of the other bands, but we always ended up sitting by those buses. So much stuff happened out there! Taime abandoned this chick he was macking on to give me a hug. I actually had a whole conversation with Xristian. Danny was annoying Ann, so I yelled at him to pay attention to his girlfriend. Brent was d-r-u-n-k and looking for his jet plane. And Chad. Awwww, my Chaddy. He kept coming out to make sure that we were okay. He's such a sweetie! And there was something about a shower... ;) We finally left town around midnight, and I ended up driving all the way home that night. And that's about it in a nutshell.

4.) Have any weird talents? I can make my eyes vibrate back and forth. I thought it was a singularly weird talent until I saw Hugh Jackman do the exact same thing on Letterman one night. That's when I decided we were soul mates.

5.) If you could vacation one place in the world, where would you vacation and why? I really, really, really would like to go to Australia. Because it's pretty and has gorgeous beaches, but also still has complete wilderness. I like that.
leighblack: (Idina - Can't be Still)
I wasn't sure about doing this meme, since my life is pretty boring. But I managed to come up with ten things.

Ten Things I've done that I'm relatively sure no one on my friend's list has done:
1. Caught a 10" bass on Lake Riley - famous for being the lake Prince's purple house was on. (and yes, it was while he still owned it)
2. Moved my collection over 1800+ books three times in two years.
3. Gotten kicked out of a McDonald's and an Arby's on the same day.
4. Skinny dipped with 5 co-workers in my parent's pool, while they slept in their bedroom which has a window that faces the pool, without getting caught.
5. Flashed several friends and coworkers while in a busy hardware store.
6. Brought beer to Big Sexy Kevin Nash at his hotel room at 3am.
7. Gotten busy with my wrestling commentator boy toy while several wrestlers snored on in the next room.
8. Was introduced to people as the President of a band's fan club, by a member of the band, which was not true, and in fact, they don't have a fan club. ("What? No, I'm not." "Yes, you are." "No, I'm NOT." "Yes, you ARE!")
9. Gotten lucky on a bed of fiberglass insulation. (the paper-wrapped kind, thank goodness)
10. Left unsupervised nearly every weekend of every summer from age 12 on without ever once getting into trouble.
