leighblack: (Sven - Waving on St. Patty's Day)
OH EM GEE. I do not have to be back at Hallmark until Tuesday. That's FOUR WHOLE DAYS off! I'm so happy about it, I could cry. That job is crushing my soul, yet I feel an ridiculous amount of loyalty towards it and can't imagine just leaving. Something is totally wrong with me.

Secret to Sunday Sven Stalkers:
Meet at [livejournal.com profile] auroram's house at 2pm. Does that work for everyone?

To do this weekend:
- Laundry
- Dinner on Sat night
- Hairball show also on Sat night
- Stalk Sven on Sunday
- Figure out where to buy Welsh beer, if possible
- Also gummy sharks
- CLEAN OFF HARD DRIVES (very important! I have less than 10G free right now)
- Edit & post Project 365 photos
- upload season 1 of Torchwood

Someone made a secret in [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets about the Kare 11 weather team! ;) Now of course, I want to read the porn more than anything.
leighblack: (Sven - Waving on St. Patty's Day)
Oh my goodness, you guys! I now have over 30,000 mp3s loaded into my iTunes! And I still have tons more sitting here that I haven't done anything with yet. That's completely ridiculous! When the hell am I going to listen to all this stuff??

To do list for tomorrow:
- Laundry
- Manicure
- Hair color?
- Pack to crash at [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin's for the night

The AT&T commercial about getting yourself a Sven seriously cracks me up everytime I see it. Because of course I want my own Sven! Just not some giant, buff Nordic guy. More like an adorable, elfin weather guy. ;)

In closing, my last.fm stats, in which I listened to the last of the Christmas music for quite a while )

leighblack: (Wild - Boogaard Throws a Punch)
At this very moment, I am supposed to be at the Josh Ritter show with Mo. Instead I ditched out because I am too tired and cranky and busy. You don't need to tell me what a loser I am. I already know. =/

My Hallmark manager called me today and begged me to take a shift tomorrow night since one of the girls is sick with mono. That will be my fifth day scheduled for the week, but I agreed to work. With the intentions of taking all the money from my extra shifts and buying myself a Derek Boogaard jersey. Because I deserve it, dammit! Then I looked in my account and noticed that I already have more cash than I thought I had. I could go buy my jersey right now! But I think I will wait until I get paid next week and then buy both my jersey and my new iPod. It'll be a day to circle on the calendar! Of course, that doesn't mean I can't stop by the Hockey Lodge on Friday and check the new jerseys out. ;)

Thanks to MetroBlogging Twin Cities (which I don't really recommend since they're a bunch of bitter twats, but I still can't seem to stop reading), I found out today about the blog We have Mixed Feelings About Sven Sundgaard. It's not very obsessive for a fan blog though. But now there's also Sven Sundgaard's Penis! (errr, NSFW) It's pretty damned funny! Yes, kids. The local weather guy has a fandom that is blogging as his penis. Oh, internet tubes. How you always amuse me!
leighblack: (Hicks - Just a Ride)
Hooray! I can turn my head today! There's definitely still something wrong with my neck, but it's not crippling painful anymore. Driving was kind of complicated without not being able to look behind me.

I would rant about traffic and people and how much I hate them, but I don't have the energy. I'll just say that my almost new car has a huge chip in the paint from a rock, a ding in the windshield from another rock and SOME FUCKING MORON SWIPED MY BUMPER AND IT IS NOW SCRATCHED UP AND MISSING PAINT. It either happened at my apartment or at Hallmark and I am VERY MUCH NOT HAPPY.

*ahem*

The Will.i.am CD is horrible. Yeah, I know. What was I expecting? But it's even worse than that. =/

[livejournal.com profile] f_o_n_y gave me a list for the interest meme. Five of them are actually tied together.

celebreality
Oh VH1! How I adore you and your cheesy, addicting Celebreality TV shows! What would I do on Sundays if I didn't have Rock of Love and Flavor of Love and My Fair Brady and Surreal Life to watch? They also have one of the best blogs around, which I created an lj feed for: [livejournal.com profile] vh1celebreality

Sven Sundgaard
I'm kind of a news junkie. And on March 10th, 2006 (yes, I remember the exact day) KARE-11 introduced their new weather guy, the adorably elfin Sven Sundgaard. I was immediately smitten! How can you not adore someone named Sven? It became my life's goal to meet him, which finally happened at the State Fair on my birthday this year. Sven has a blog too, which I also created a feed for: [livejournal.com profile] svens_blog

it's just a ride
The other five interests jenni gave me all have to do with brilliant comedian Bill Hicks. "It's Just a Ride" is the title of the documentary that was produced about Bill's life after he died from pancreatic cancer in 1994. But it's really a philosophy that Bill would try to teach at his shows.

"The world is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it's real, because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round and it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud. And it's fun, for a while."

more of this long Hicksian quote behind the cut )

illuminate the collective unconscious
Bill's shows were just as much of a preaching session as they were about comedy bits. He often talked about how the human race was making itself dumber as a whole by watching things like American Gladiators and listening to people like Rush Limbaugh. He preached about trying to wake people up and making them realize that we need to better ourselves and make ourselves smarter so that we can move forward as a whole race.

squeegee your third eye
This is kind of the same concept as illuminating the collective unconscious. Clearing your mind (with or without the use of drugs), removing the haze put over us by the media and the government and seeing the world how it really is through your third eye.

people who hate people
One of my favorite Hicks bits is about creating a new political party, the People Who Hate People Party. They're having a little trouble getting together though. "People Who Hate People! Come together!" "NO!" *snicker*

Beelzebozo
Bill had a bit of an alter-ego that would come out during his shows, Beelzebozo. The satanic comic. He was pretty crude and rude and fucking hilarious.
leighblack: (Riley - Big Ears)
We had some weather going on here tonight. (actually, there are still tornado watches out right now - which is weird this late at night) This is always okay with me because that means extra Sven on the TV. Suddenly, he announced that there was an unconfirmed funnel cloud in my very suburb, located near the intersection of two highways that absolutely do not meet at any point. In fact, Hwy 13 is not even in Inver Grove. Oh Sven...*shakes head*

It didn't really matter though, since I wasn't at home. My dad called me at work today (which was strange in itself) and asked me if I'd feed Riley for him. My mom and Earl have been up at the cabin for several weeks now and she's basically been without a car. Poor Early got pancreatitus this week and my dad had to run up to Brainerd to pick them up and bring them home so Earl could go to his real Vet. Not that the Brainerd Vet isn't good, but it's not his real Vet. So, me and Riley were hanging out for a while. I was going to leave and then the storm started and he hates them so I stayed with him until it ended. He wouldn't leave my side and in fact kept snuggling up closer and closer to me. Awwww...

So, I finally left and then spent the rest of the night watching Butch and Stephen Kellogg concert DVDs with [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin and [livejournal.com profile] stardiver. A wonderful evening!

OMG! I almost forgot! I went back to Target and they finally had The Office sticky notes and the memo cubes in! I kind of did the happy dance there in the dollar spot. So I bought even more stuff that I absolutely do not need. =)

And now I should definitely be in bed. But Simon Pegg is on Conan, so I'm in front of the TV.
leighblack: (Sven - Waving on St. Patty's Day)
It's taken two years and three tries, but I have finally met Sven Sundgaard! My birthday has pretty much been perfect.

thar be photos this way )

So that's been my day. I'm taking things easy tonight, since I've been over stimulated with people over the past two days. I'm ready for some time to myself.

Thanks to everyone who has given me birthday wishes! I think I've personally thanked you all, but sorry if I've missed any. I still have to go over to the 'Space and thank people there. I appreciate every single one of you guys! And special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean for my lj black rose. I love it!
leighblack: (Riley - Big Ears)
Okay, so the Weird Al show was totally MADE OF WIN. If I made a list of all the songs I would have wanted him to play, well he played them. All of them. Even "You're Pitiful" which totally made my night. More on the concert tomorrow.

Yes, I got my Sven shirt. Boo to the weather though. For the second year in a row, he had to be at the studio because of the bad weather. Sunday is totally going to be my chance to meet him though. I can feel it! Also, I got a Team Franken 2008 shirt. I want to get away with wearing one of them to work tomorrow, but I'm not sure which one yet.

Unfortunately, my evening was sad too. My mom called to say that something happened to Riley and my dad had to rush him to the vet this morning. He tore a tendon in his good back leg and now he can barely walk. =( The vet set him up with some drugs though and when I called my dad to see what was going on, he said that Ry was doing okay. My dad built a ramp on the front steps for him so he can still go out. Just very slowly. I'm really upset about this. He's my baby. I'm going to go over and hang out with him tomorrow night. I'm worried...well, I'm just worried that this is the beginning of the end and I'm absolutely not ready to face it yet.

Anyhow...note to self. Tomorrow:
look up the dates for the Wicked tour for next year
look into Jersey Boys tickets in Chicago
record the new Houston Calls song from MySpace

Also, [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin and I have decided that we're going to NYC in two years, so we can see Wicked on Broadway! This is a good plan.

That alarm is going to be quite painful when it goes off in about four hours. =/
leighblack: (Sven - Netted)
Well, I was going to bed until the sky turned into WWIII above me. Violent storms != a restful night.

But it does mean that I've gotten a night full of Sven on the TV. I won't complain about that.

My way to work is completely flooded out right now. Will it be drained in six hours when I'm driving in the morning? Who knows??

Anyhow, I know a couple of you would be interested in this news: Dan Wilson's Free Life solo CD set for release on October 16. Although you probably already know that. But you can listen to the first single?
leighblack: (Sven - Sven & Abby)
Hmmmm. Yesterday's prediction of 2-6 inches of snow today was downgraded to 1-3 inches this morning. And now it looks like it all missed us here in the Cities. Thanks a lot for the freak out, Belinda! Sven wouldn't have done this to me! He was just predicting flurries, which is exactly what we have.

Stupid bitch.
leighblack: (Sven - Waving on St. Patty's Day)
Truly, I will write up my fabulous St. Patrick's Day. Because it was a wonderful day and I got to spend it with some of my favorite people! But right now I am exhausted and I have to work tomorrow, so I am headed to bed.

But before that, I MUST leave you with a couple photos from the parade.
my weatherman boyfriend )

leighblack: (Sven - Sven & Abby)

Where's the ginormous snow storm that's supposed to wreak havoc upon our lives?? The impending storm was the top story on the Kare 11 website earlier, but they bumped it down. Must not be quite as horrible as was forecasted.

Still, it inspired this line in Sven's blog today: "if you see your local meteorologists this weekend, give them a hug, they'll need it!" Yes indeed, Sven. A hug shall be given.

Haha. I just noticed that Kare 11 totally changed Sven's blog for today. It was all about the storm and how hard it is to predict the weather correctly. Now it's just about how we're going to get some much needed moisture. And the line about giving him a hug is gone too. That's funny that it's all been changed.

I downloaded this awesome collection of songs titles "The Complete 90's" this week. I have a lot of 90's music already, although my collection leans towards grungy stuff and butchy chicks with guitars. This collection, however, has a lot of cheesy pop crap and it is fabulous! I'm listening to 1990 today and have gotten such wonderful gems as Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" and James Ingram's "I Don't Have the Heart." "How am I Supposed to Live Without You?" is farther down the list and I can't wait!
leighblack: (Sven - Flying Free)
So, I was going to compile some sort of Top 10 CDS of 2006 list because I guess that's what bloggers/journalers do at the end of the year. But...eh? That's kind of boring. Instead I bring you:

The Top Things I've Been in Denial About in 2006
* Sven Sundgaard is NOT gay (and why do people find so much delight in telling me about when they've seen him at the gay bars making out with boys?)
* I actually downloaded the Kevin Federline CD
* And I downloaded the Paris Hilton CD
* Jebus I love "Fergalicious" - even more than "London Bridge"
* Exactly how much country music have I been listening to anyways?? What's wrong with me????
* I was in super-denial for a long time about how close my car was to dying...and then it died. Denial was over pretty fast.
* My ankle is going to be fine. Nevermind that I injured it 17 months ago.
* Wait. I still work at Hallmark? How did that happen??

Okay, not ten things. But still a good list.

What the hell? I'll throw in my favorite CDs of the year too.

My number one without a doubt absolutely favorite CD of 2006 is The City Drive's Always Moving, Never Stopping! Nothing else even comes close.
Honorable mentions:
* Boys Like Girls - Boys Like Girls
* Butch Walker & The Lets-Go-Out-Tonites - The Rise & Fall of...
* Faster Pussycat - The Power and the Glory Hole (more of a loyalty nod, probably - I mean, it's not a horrible CD - it's just not a great CD either)
* Motochrist - Hollywood High
* Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam
* Prince - 3121
* Shooter Jennings - Electric Rodeo
* "Weird Al" Yankovic - Straight Outta Lynwood
* The Wreckers - Stand Still, Look Pretty

Oh no!

leighblack: (Sven - Waves)
I went out for drinks with some old coworkers tonight and it was a lot of fun. More than I thought it would be. But. I heard all about how A's friend J sees my adorable little Sven down at the Gay 90's ALL the time and that he's quite the little man whore.

*sigh*

Of course. I should have known. I like him, so he must be gay.
leighblack: (Twinkies - The Closer)
Listen, jackass. When you decide to ring my doorbell at 1:35am, and not once or twice but repeatedly for about 2 minutes straight, I'm not exactly going to be in the best mood after I've gotten out of bed and stumbled downstairs. Yes, there's going to be yelling and curse words. And no, you're weakly stammered "oh man, I'm really sorry" doesn't fucking cut it. I should have called the cops on your stupid fucking ass, but my phone was all the way upstairs and I really just wanted to crawl back into bed. I should have fucking kicked you down the stairs and believe me, I could have done it to your scrawny little ass.

Also, what the hell was I watching on Nip/Tuck last night?? Admittedly, I totally forgot about it and tuned in about halfway through. But Sean tripping out of his mind after nibbling on a pot brownine? What was that?? And Christian saying he was going to make love to whatshername? Make love?? Dr. Christian Troy said make love?!? It boggles the mind. This show is definitely no longer required viewing.

GAH! At least I made it home from work in time to see the end of the Twins game last night. And to see Sven get stuck in the rain without an umbrella.
leighblack: (Riley - Big Ears)
This is pretty much going to be the abbreviated version of the weekend. But if you want to skip the reading and go right to the photos, I don't blame you.

Saturday
I finally didn't feel like I wanted to die, so our plans were definitely going to happen. [livejournal.com profile] dazeebean and [livejournal.com profile] taylorea met me at my place, and they were nice enough to bring birthday presents. Including a giant Captain Jack Sparrow standee! *drool* I haven't decided where he's going yet, but the bedroom has not been ruled out. ;)

We headed off to The Fair and went straight to the Kare 11 barn, where I bought my Sven T-shirt. *rawr* We stood in line so I could get Rick Kupchella and Amy Hockert's autographs, and I was very disappointed that Shaver was not there. We went off to get cookies and then went back to the barn to wait for Sven. But, sadly, there were storms off to the West and he had to stay at the station. I DID NOT GET TO MEET SVEN ON MY BIRTHDAY! *whines*

Disappointed, I went off to drown my sorrows in root beer. And then we went to the butterfly house, which was super cool. The rest of our party arrived, so we went to meet them and then trotted off for food. We decided we wanted to see aminals, and shuffled off in that direction. With plenty of pip stops.

Including at The Slingshot! [livejournal.com profile] duckduck and I decided that we wanted to spend a ridiculous amount of money to be shot hundreds of feet into the air, and so we did. It was great! We got the video of it and I'm going to work on getting that uploaded tomorrow.

We finally made it to the aminals. And they smell. That's about all I have to say. I wanted a apple cider float, so we headed back to the Grandstand after wandering through the barns. I thought the floats were divine last year, but they were even better this year because they had cinnamon ice cream in them! *drool* It was, in fact, a nice moment of zen as we sat eating our ice cream and apples while listening to the Gear Daddies on the Grandstand stage.

We walked through the International Bazaar where I bought the most awesome (and useless) magic wand and then decided to head home. Since it was still early, I decided to drive up to the cabin. Which was probably a bad idea since I spent almost two hours driving through a torrential downpour. Ick. But, it stopped raining eventually and I made it up okay. Riley and Earl happily greeted me and I crashed out.

Sunday
Didn't really do anything exciting. Since I feel better but not fantastic, I decided to take things easy. Plus, after just getting over a high fever, I didn't want to sit out in the sun. So, I mostly sat in the shade and read, with Riley curled up next to me. He loves it when I'm up there. My mom made Lebanese meat pies for dinner and we had strawberry shortcake for dessert as my birthday dinner. I watched Flavor of Love, of course. I cannot get enough of that show!

Monday
Ummm, kind of the same thing. Reading, sitting, dog curled up next to me. Came home. Did this.
leighblack: (Sven - Netted)
My Strep test came back negative today, but my doctor felt so bad for me (in fact, he was rather appalled by how bad my throat/tonsils looked) that he gave me the Amoxicillin prescription anyways. If I don't start to feel better in a couple days, I probably have Mono. *sigh* Fuckin A.

My visit was great though. I did my paperwork, sat down for about 30 secs before the nurse called me back, she did the vitals and swabbed my throat, she didn't even get the door closed behind her before the doctor walked in, he looked at me, got my test results, sent me off with my script. Grand total: 20 mins. Awesome!

It HURTS to swallow, so I keep waking myself up. I can't eat anything. I finally managed to down an Icee this afternoon. I might try some soup broth after I gargle some salt water.

I am a sweaty, icky mess and I still got hit on at the pharmacy. Really, dude? Does it fucking look like I want to talk to you??

I am still going to The Fair tomorrow, throat be damned! Just maybe we'll go later than we had planned. I can't see myself making it through the entire day. I'll let everyone know. I emailed Sven yesterday and he said he'd look for me. *squee* Although he also jinxed the whole day by saying that if the weather gets severe, he has to go back to the station. Dammnit! Maybe I can work that to my advantage though. He would owe me a birthday photo then, wouldn't he? I conveniently work right down the block from the station...*hmmmmmm*

My mom seriously does not want me to come up to the cabin, because she doesn't want what I've got. Plus, if I have to stay inside all weekend, might as well do that at home. I can work on teaching myself SQL, I suppose.

Oh! My boss is working on getting me a laptop for work. So if something like this happens again, I can still work from home. Because I guess the place falls apart if I'm not there. I can feel the chains getting tighter already.

Bought my ticket to the Cathouse 20th anniversary show! Whoo-hoo!!
leighblack: (Sven - Sven & Abby)
Kare 11 has the autograph sessions for the Fair posted on their website. Sven and Perk AND Shaver are all going to be there on my birthday. I'm in news geekery heaven!
leighblack: (Sven - Sven & Abby)
Mostly for the locals, I suppose.

Sat, Aug 12th: the Irish Fair, since I'm so very Irish =/ (although I believe I'll wear my Il Duce "Kiss My Ass, I'm Irish" shirt if it's not too hot out)

Sun, Aug 13th: Bowling for Boobs II!
5-8pm, Park Tavern in Saint Louis Park, all you can bowl for $10!

Fri, Aug 18th: Snakes on a Plane/My 30th birthday party!
Everyone is invited to join us, of course. I'm thinking the Mediterranean Cruise Cafe in Eagan for dinner before the movie. Yes, it's a little more expensive than we're used to. It's my birthday! There's belly dancing! And look at that menu!! *mouth waters* Anyhow, then a late showing of the movie. More exact details to come later on.

Sat, Aug 26th: my friend's death/thrash metal band, Bellicose, is coming up from Nashville to play at Minnesota Mayhem 3
I'm really excited for them, because this is a great opporunity. But death metal? Not so much for me. Ummm, so if anyone wants to go with me to keep me company...yeah. Apparently, this is the last show at the bar, so there will be super cheap booze. Is that a good enough incentive?

Sat, Sep 2nd: my actual birthday/stalking Sven at The Fair!
An all-day event to be sure, but people can join us at The Fair at any time if they have to work, or whatever. Sven has confirmed that he should be at The Fair on his normal workdays, so my birthday dreams of meeting him should come true!! *dreamy sigh*
leighblack: (Sven - Just Sven)
OMG! Someone needs to come to the State Fair with me on Sept 2nd!! It's now my life's goal to use the fact that it's my 30th birthday as a gimmick to get myself on the KARE-11 weather broadcast and meet Sven Sundgaard!! IT WILL HAPPEN!

*ahem*

In other news, I'm kind of running out of ideas for music to post. Especially since all I seem to listen to anymore is Butch Walker. Does anyone have any requests or suggestions? A certain genre? My top 20 favorite songs? Songs that start with K? Whatever. I have over 12,000 songs in my iTunes now, so I can pretty much fill any request. Also, My Big Damn List of Music is still out there for you to look at, and sort of up to date.

Tonight: Wicked!
